Forums - Gaming - Bioware won't leave gay characters out of their RPGs

Who gives a shit? I don't. As long as they don't force it on the player character, they can include bestiality for all I care. Complaining when a game gives you the (optional)option to do something that you may find morally reprehensible, or gross, is ridiculous, if you ask me.

I do wish more games would include man-eating in the more literal sense, though. Cannibals need representation too. Stuff's enjoyable -- tastes just like chicken. Not to mention its health-giving qualities.

Don't get me wrong, I have my beliefs based on my morals when it comes to this stuff but I honestly just wish romances in games didn't exist in general. Look at guildwars 2. The game is fantastic in terms of gameplay, graphics, art style, the story is good, but the sub plot romances that plague it are horribly done. I'd rather have no romances than poorly done ones.

Then don't romance any of the characters. It's optional.

In many games it is not optional. The NPC's get into romances that your forced to watch unfold.

I was just about to ask the same thing.

Having gay characters in games is perfectly fine. I think it is great that people have the option to represent their own interests.

However, sometimes it isnt done very well and I dont like it very much because I feel like I have to be mean to some of the males in my party just so they will stop hitting on me. Dragon Age 2, for example, was terribly done in this regard, but I think Mass Effect 3 was handled very well. Mass effect 3 is a Perfect example of how to implement a variety of romance options without stepping on anybodies toes, so to speak...

Alright, that's cool. I don't see why people would have a problem with it, the romances in the game are completely optional, it's not like Bioware is forcing anyone to change their sexual orientation.

Its not really good to include them just for being "gay characters" they shouldn't shoehorn them and have them stereotypically gay (like Dragon Age Origins) they should make them a character first and sexuality second.
or make them just sexual neutral like how japanese light novels do. no "Gay romance" feels "weird" just the same as other romances.

Oh those slobs. Leaving gay characters all over the place.

If you think Origins was stereotyped take a look a Inquisitions...

Short hair lesbian.(Elf, too, another gay stereotype in the genre)

Mustacheoed gay man.

Well then. they should not brag about it like they are the only ones that do gay people (or multi racial) people justice.

It was bad about Mass Effect too. Every character was stereotypical, In streotypes that I doubt would still exist in that time in the future.

This. There's no need to change the looks or personality of the characters, just let it feel natural. Seriously, the homosexual characters in the game look so stereotyped right now. I have friends that are gay in real life, and none of them act like that.
