State of Decay is a great game though. I still haven't played TLOU.

Beyond that, The Last Of Us didn't do good just because it was a zombie game (which is inaccurate in and of itself, since the enemies aren't zombies at all).

That said, I've yet to try State of Decay on Steam. Obviously, you'd recommend it!

You can get technical... but Last of Us is a zombie game and inspired by zombie media.

I'm certainly not implying it did well because its a zombie game. Well designed zombie games just have a history of success, low risk.

You are completely hopeless. MS didn't come to the conclusion of shit. Just like last gen, they just paid the developers not to make a PS4 version of the game. IF it was really up to MS, then they would have published it and they would be getting money for the PC version. They aren't getting money for the PC version because they aren't publishing it.

EDIT: I'm talking about the Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse and even Tomb Raider which the PC versions and Tomb Raider itself are not being published by Microsoft.

Sony also pays publishers not to make games for Xbox. They pay for timed exclusives and exclusives. They did it on PS2 with GTA and they probably did it on PS1 to combat Nintendo. Paying developers for exclusives was going on before MS entered the console gaming realm.

I don't think MS cares to publish 3rd party games on PC. It seems to me they just don't want some games on Sony platforms.

I didn't say MS was getting money for every Xbox game that comes to PC (i.e. games they didn't publish). I'm saying they publish some Xbox games for PC. Ultimately, Xbox benefits from getting games not on Sony consoles and Windows continues its PC gaming dominance. Win win!

You said: "I'm not surprised another zombie game did well". That's an implication (or what I gathered) that such is the reason why it did well (despite whatever your intentions were). I'm simply saying that A. It's not "another zombie game" and B. If we use that rhetoric (for shits and giggles) - its infected enemies are hardly the reason it did what it did.

Thus, I wouldn't compare it to something like Dead Island, Dead Rising, or State of Decay (just realizing how similar those names are ).

Don't forget Left 4 Dead.

Hey, I already elaborated for you. No need to press your interpretation of my comment.

Like I said, zombie games are low risk. That played a role in TLoU's success. You don't have to agree with my comment but I stand by it.

Well, they lost my money for sure. I saw what their plans were when TF was announced. I saw what happened last gen with games like ME, Bioshock, Alan Wake, all these so called "exclusives". I still have ME with "Only on Xbox360" written on the cover. That's just how MS is. If you have a PC already, buying a xbox console is a very bad choice. Just go for Sony or Nintendo, they have a lot of love to offer.

I still love how people use something 2 generations ago as a rebuttal. They did it with GTA? LMAO you must be joking right? They didn't do that with GTA, they just didn't release GTA on Xbox, but GTA did still come to Xbox.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOO, Windows continues its PC gaming dominace. Oh you are so funny, I laughed so hard when I read that. Sure whatever you say, somehow Steam winning = Windows winning. Sigh....people these days.

And AGAIN holy shit, you don't get it do you? PC gaming is growing and these PC gamers need reasons, ie exclusives to buy consoles. So tell me, if all these exclusives are coming to PC why should they buy a Xbox? It is actually hurting Xbox because these PC gamers who aren't stupid can tell Microsoft doesn't understand the word exclusive and they will choose PS4 over Xbox because there are more real exclusives on PS4 than XBO. Tell me, how many Microsoft published games on the 360 eventually came to the PC? TONS. How many Sony published PS3 games came to PC? 1, Joe Danger, a indie game. Sony knows what the word exclusive means, Microsoft doesn't.

I mean holy crap, if you actually read what I said, this conversation would have avoided.

My question is just how many PC gamers also purchase consoles? Microsoft doesn't see PC as a competing platform, only the other consoles. Therefore when they say XBO Exclusive you should take it to mean not on the other consoles. The PS4 has plenty games that are also on PC or coming to PC as well. They showed plenty of indie games that are on PC but touted how it was exclusive to their console. Some of those were later said to just be timed exclusive to their console as they will come to Xbox later.

I think Microsoft is in a weird place with PC gaming. Listening to Phil it's like they feel a need to make some of their games available to PC. Plus last gen we would hear the argument of how they didn't support the PC crowd anymore. They gave them Halo and Gears and they heard "Hah we don't need to buy an XBOX now!" so they stopped. Also let's look at the games in question, Dead Rising has always been multi-plat and this time it's not going to any other console. Then we have Ryse which was thought to be an average game with pretty graphics, which is typical Crytek, and that is now going to PC and no other console. Last but not least we have Tomb Raider which has never been exclusive and it is timed-exclusive for the XBO. I don't see what the big deal is with that when I hear people talking about the timed DLC Sony has with Destiny like it's the biggest coup in in recent gaming history.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I thought that this was going to be about how MS should port all their games to PC so they could increase software sales and improve brand recognition and word of mouth. Turns out to be a silly thread where people bitch about MS letting 3rd parties port their games to PC after an exclusivity window.

Sony is buying exclusives and timed exclusives now. They've always done it, people just hate when MS does it.

The success of Steam has absolutely benefited Windows. Even MS supports Steam.

If PC gaming is growing then that's great for Windows. MS should continue to put games on PC to deter people from moving to other operating systems.

Sony has published numerous games for PC. They are generally online games. They didn't keep those on consoles because they want money from PC gamers (Windows gamers inparticular).

Personally, I like that MS allows games on PC. I'd like to see them continue putting Xbox games on PC.

Isn't it great for gamers on PC that they have access to some of these games as well? MS makes a few bucks off PC as well the last time I checked too :).

Unlike Sony, Microsoft also profits from PC gamers in a lot of indirect ways. So it's not as harmful as you might think.

Well, until these games start getting ported to Linux...which is starting to happen at a pretty rapid pace thanks to Valve.
