EDIT: I'm talking about the Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse and even Tomb Raider which the PC versions and Tomb Raider itself are not being published by Microsoft.

Sony also pays publishers not to make games for Xbox. They pay for timed exclusives and exclusives. They did it on PS2 with GTA and they probably did it on PS1 to combat Nintendo. Paying developers for exclusives was going on before MS entered the console gaming realm.

I don't think MS cares to publish 3rd party games on PC. It seems to me they just don't want some games on Sony platforms.

I didn't say MS was getting money for every Xbox game that comes to PC (i.e. games they didn't publish). I'm saying they publish some Xbox games for PC. Ultimately, Xbox benefits from getting games not on Sony consoles and Windows continues its PC gaming dominance. Win win!
