3rd gen: NES ( Not only because it revolutionized gaming with games like Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda, but there wasn't really any competition! )
4th gen: SNES ( my favorite console of all time. 'Nuff said!)
5th gen: PS1 ( the N64 was an awesome console that really changed 3D gaming, but the PS1 has many masterpieces like FFIX and SotN!)
6th gen: PS2 ( The same as the PS1, but much better)
7th gen: PS3 ( I actually hated the PS3 during 2006-2009, but I simply loved the console once I got it in 2010!)
8th gen: WiiU ( has 3D World and  MK8! 'Nuff said!)

3rd Gen: NES, Nintendo was simply unrivalled in great games.
4th Gen: Mega Drive, with its awesome 1st party offerings.
5th Gen: Saturn, weaker selection in games overall, but the 1st games crushed everything in my view.
6th Gen: Dreamcast,Sega kept innovating in both games and hardware, pushing the industry forward.
7th Gen: X360, I have never bought so many games, and Halo 4 is my favorite in the series.
