Forums - Nintendo - What do you want from Nintendo's next handheld?

All the hardware features I want have been mentioned by other people in this thread.

Software wise I want a UI that looks great and runs really fast. I hate waiting to get into the Miiverse or to the eShop. More multitasking abilities would be great and also make the eShop like the AppStore.

I want a Game Boy Advance SP 2

Nothing, because like the usual Sony PSP3/PSVita 2 will be outperform it. 3DS sucks, but the games sells it.

Ha ha ha, isnt that the primary reason to buy a gaming device, having the best games.

Perhaps thats his point, he doesnt care about the hardware because he knows the software will deliver......or maybe not and he made an incredibly dumb statement

I definitely agree about the speakers...
The speakers on the original model (not sure about the XL or 2DS) are atrocious...
I also want a much better launch lineup, but I suppose that's not what OP had in mind when making this thread...

Have a nice day...

So what I'm mostly getting here is that you want the next handheld to be a Vita, maybe with two screens.

Honestly, I'm not sure Nintendo should spend any more resources on the handheld market. Japanese third parties and indies are the only other people making games for it, and the burden of being the driving force behind handheld consoles is detracting from the resources Nintendo can bring to bear on home consoles, which have a somewhat brighter future.

The solution might be to integrate handheld and home console into a single entertainment strategy, but the execution is riddled with pitfalls and the payoff might not really be worth it.

- screen that can bend/roll (could this tech sell the system)
- no high tech hardware or high resolution that will kill it (killed vita high cost of games and takes too much time to develop)
- free to play games (half of the games should be free to play or 1 dollar per game)
- should be able to connect to any screen and controllers/gamepads (pc,tv, even mobile so you can play in multiplayer each player with own screen)

I want them to go back to the GBA design but with a HD touchscreen and stuff

And lose the best thing that's happened to handheld gaming!? Lol, I hope not. The second screen is nothing short of amazing. It works wonders for games. I don't care what anyone says, second screen maps are revolutionary.

i actually like the clam shell design...

i would it would be similar to 3ds xl... but the whole top will be the whole screen... they can put the speaker somewhere else... and yes better speaker...

an OLED 1080p screen wouldnt hurt but the price...

slimmer 3ds xl with better screen and sound.... the buttons will be the same but interchangeable like we saw before... please be clam shell again...

i actually like the 3d.

Interchangable buttons is a stupid idea and I hope it doesn't happen. They need to be standardize so devs know what they're dealing with.

I like 3D too. As a novely. Not at the expense of a better looking and better running game.

Ordered in terms of importance.

1. Games, of course
2. A real Nintendo Network, with achievements and such (a good app store wouldn't go amiss either)
3. GODLIKE battery life (like the original Game Boy)
4. Durability (Good build quality with a nice screen(s), possibly gorilla glass)
5. Dual analog, bumpers, triggers, that good stuff
6. 3G at no extra cost
7. Significant leap over the PSVita and on-par with mid-high end smartphones (None of this antiquated 'lateral thinking with withered technology' crap)

7. Won't happen. Not for the price range Nintendo will shoot for.
