Yeah, the PS4 will get No Mans Sky. A game made by 10 people who can make it work. Just stick to the PC if you cant make it work for the consoles. No need to insult anyone.

All I know about Star Citizen is that it managed to make $45M without even finishing a game.
From that, I understand the plans for Sony and MS allowing similar practice on their consoles.
Other than that, I have no interest in this game, and will certainly not miss it on my console.

Easy for him to say, when you finance your game through $48 million of crowdfunds, then you really don't have to give a fuck about releasing on as many platforms as possible. Not like the people that fund the game want their money back at the end of the day.

I think these developers have ego problem.

Thread title is misleading. They never said that they tougth that PS4 was a lesser plattaform, just that plattaforms that demand dumbed down versions are. The original title make more sense.

He just don't want to bend over arbitrary regulation from plattaform holders, and thats ok. See: what Star citzen is trying to prove is that PC game can still be great and profitable, something that a lot of publishers are negleting now days.

His arguments, however, don't are that convincing. "We will NOT pass on features and technology just because they will only run on some hardware configurations." well, if you release a game that only runs well with the lastest graphic card, cpu on the market, your software will end up running only in some hardware configuration.

Especially considering he believes that QC/QA is odius and unnecessary step.

Sure PCs have teh best grafix, but typically the PC games that do the best on console have gfx at the back burner, like Minecraft.

hey, PC can be a higher performance platform. ..but even on PC most developers are very conscience of minimum specs requirements because most people play on "dumb downed pcs" and if you make the specs too high you alienate even the pc gamers from playing your game.

if he wants to shoot for a higher level then consoles then all the more power to him. he's in very lonely company though. really, he's all by himself. to a certain extent bashing consoles like this will probably rally his base making pc enthusiasts even more likely to buy his game as the word "consolefication" is such a dirty word among those gamers.

to his closing line,.. the developer behind warframe talked about how open sony was about allowing them to make updates and be cross platform and that's why they choose to release there. i think it's coming to xbox at some point to so if he wants to release on console i'm sure he can.
