Forums - Gaming - Star Citizen creator gets a PS4 dev kit but insists 'It will NEVER be dumbed down for a lesser platform'

I dont want that boring MMO in PS4. But devlopers probably want and will make silly arguments when there is no demand. Just like cryteck. I pity these developers. I guess these guys want to have some mental peace thinking themselves are superior.

Yeah Crytek was a PC only dev until Pc gamers pirated the shit out of Crysis 1.

CD Projekt RED is on console too.

How much time until this dev come to us,the $60 "peasants"? :P

Hahahahaha...... lets see where this company is in a few years time. They obviously are off to a great start.

They are, actually. $45 million in crowd-funding alone.

*Looks at Crytek*

$45 isn't a big deal you know, thats not even up to what you would get from 1 million sales at $60. But as i said, lets see where they are in a "few years time". What they are doing now, is just bad for business.

Starcitizen is basically the Crysis of this generation if you get what I mean. Its graphics are just jaw dropping and PCs struggle to play it in Max graphics without spending a shit load of money... But, with that being said, hopefully the Campaign will be better. Crysis Campaign had many epic things going for it and it is underrated as hell but I will admit that its still someone generic so hopefully, Starcitizen will make a lot more of an effort to do so but so far, the graphics look amazing

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Well, he should actually deliver something on one platform before talking about any others.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

$45 million isn't a big deal for a start-up game dev? OK.

That makes the ships definitely sound not worth the asking price. But hey, if the PC gamer that normally buys everything during Steam Sales, wants to pay that for a ship in a beta of a game to give his rig a run for its money, then so be it.

Look, a lot of us PC gamers think Star Citizen is a waste too. Those of us who hunt bargains during the Steam sales are very much different for the VERY small minority willing to spend $300 on a ship.

Most of us who purchased the game only got the $40 or $60 package.

No. It isn't. On the grand scheme of things. Its juts not big enough for them to go off talking like they are talking now like they are re-inventing the wheel. It would be ok if games like no mans sky didn't exist.

And get this, No man sky has a smaller team behind it, but be rest assured... it will be more of a financial success. No need for us to argue about this, how about we just take a bet and give both games a year on the market and see which is more sucessful. Better yet, when there is that inevitable announcement of a PS4 version of the game and some bullshit about how they have been able to get it running on the PS4. We have seen all this before.... Different game, different dev, same old shit.

Look, you've been steadfast against PC and PC development optimisation and such, so I'm not even going to argue this. I love No Man's Sky (also on PC, btw), so I see no reason to bicker over the success of either game (and $45 million is a huge success already for a start up company financially, even if they fail to deliver the best game possible).

That 275.00 package is not just for a ship though.  That's the physical collector's edition which contains stuff like a physical ship model, ship-shaped USB stick, map, blueprints, CD, book(s), etc all in a nice collector's box of some kind.  I'm not saying it's necessarily worth the money.  But you are not paying $275 for just an in-game item here.

For the record, I'm a huge fan of Chris Roberts' previous games like Wing Commander, but I am still undecided if I will be pledging on this project.
