Not Any More: Now its going to have its  very own playstation section

which is being named Sony Computer Entertainment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

In total, the investments from Sony Corp. into everything totals to roughly 1318.9 million RMB, which equates about $211.5 million dollars. The entire operation is going to enlist the talents of local game developers within China so that they can get an edge with exclusive content on Playstation platforms within the country, and to help promote growth within the Chinese video game industry.

The ONLY way that's gonna work is if these games are not on mobile or PC and these games are system sellers. Same for MS, they can't pull that console exclusivity crap in China.

Lol they think Japan is a hard market.

But is that not the point of free 2 play?

you do not have to pay for a network for in order to play online multiplayer!

by that very function alone look at the PS3, the PS4, Playstation Vita and Playstation TV is there games being made for Free 2 play right now on the playstation platforms more than xbox platforms?

that is a Yes!

SOE has and makes More PC Free 2 play MMO's and Games that are going now for Playstation platforms...

The fact there is when many Indie developers can make free 2 play games on the playstation platforms that do not require a cost for network play from the consumer's in china, and as it stands right now Sony more or less already dove into free 2 play, not just here and there but heavy, the fact that those free 2 play games can be indie will most likely not matter if they are exclusive or not, the PS4 is not even Andrew House's main target for penetration of a living room game console in China, its the playstation TV!

Sony for one has already released that unit in 5 other regions in Asia and now will release in Mainland China with a entry price point of around $102.00!

VS' both the xboxone and the PS4 WELL OVER $700.00+

It is Both Nintendo and Sony that have the Advantage in China due to time in the free trade zone over Microsoft..this is a fact, not to say Microsoft cannot pull in some sales number's but with such a price gap..im not betting anywhere near both Nintendo and Sony's Number's

This is where heavy investment into indies are going to pay off, umm well it should key would "may pay off" because anything can happen, but the fact Sony is investing in over $211 Million+ USD into that market to establish an Arm for playstation that is not a very small investment at all.

The point is that if these games are avaliable on PC, its not going to move PS4s or PSTV, it might give them a game advantage to play, doesn't matter if online is free on PS4 and PSTV, cause its free for PC as well. Really the PCs are what the consoles are competing against in China not truly against each other. Same applies to the PSTV.

I will concede at 99$ the PSTV has a really good chance, but those stupid memory cards are going to hold it back.

while i am in whole heart Agreement with you on PC being the main leader, and infact it will remain the leader, the Memory card price point will drop over time and with the even bundle price of $130.00 there with the 8GB xard may not seem like much, the fact is its quite enough to give them plenty of saves and with the fact that Sony is already going to have PSVita china only App's and There will be 1st party exclusives for the region on the machine as well, the hurdle of the memory card is there which is true, the price point of the over all unit is well within a very consumer friendly price point there vs other box'es in china for the same price. what Sony is offering is indie exclusives that may only be exclusives say for a short time but with so many back catalog PSP and PSP mini's that even with many not ok to be released there will still be enough games for launch.

Even though they are older games for China these games can be played by many consumers in china that have never played them before! the fact there is over a 1000 games there the cost in price reduction for a market in China can be lowered because the software already has been released for so many years that with reductions over time has already made its money back esp. on PSP games by now.

this is one of the advantages in the fact that such a system as the playstation TV has is its back catalog, and the cost saving's not just for the consumer but Sony and the publisher's also. think about the cost in production of said Playstation TV in China.. the cost to ship is way less in wt and package size than both the PS3, ps4, xbox360 and xboxone. Same with Nintendo and its Wii and WiiU.

the price point is going to net a real solid advantage less shelf space required for the Playstation TV, I think the over all perception for the playstation TV will be better in Asia than many people think it will be . Many gamers already think the Playstation TV is not that viable on many gamer forums, but as it stands now Sony has been selling this unit already in asia for 7 months, Has Multiple color choices, and is getting ready to release in the west this fall. Despite what many think Sony is not giving up on the PSVita and with a $211+ Million investment into china i do not think they are giving up anytime soon.

Where is that chalkboard when we need.....

Our intention this gen isn't to take 1st but reach a comfortable and profitable 2nd place. So this would help X1's goals regardless.

Are you working for MS now? :P

Its a poll of just 5000 people so I wouldn't give this much importance.

Ugh...not this again. "Just 5,000 people so ignore it" (is the gist of what you're saying). #1 the poll was nearly 6500 people. And #2 presidential poll trackers like Rasmussen, Gallup, NPR, and the Washington times use less than 1500 respondents in their polls (some of those are less than 1000). The resulting percentages as >3% margin of error, and that's based on the sampling to be indicative of a 125M people. 1500 respondent sample size. Less than 3% margin of error representing a population of 125M voters.

6488 is an extremely large sample size.

And - much in difference to the presidential poll trackers - the sample isn't randomized. That says a lot more than the pure sample size.

Yeah, like chinese people will buy american product, pffft...

Chinese people do have a more or less positive stance towards America. Just contrary as the stance towards Japan - it's really poisoned by the deeds in WWII.

I addressed this in a prior post. The comment I replied to didn't mention anything about the poll being randomized or "it's at the end of a PS4 article, so people already interested in PS4 were the ones taking the poll". It merely said "it's only 5000 people, ignore it". Hence the presidential election example showing that you don't need a 1,000,000 person survey to be accurate.

Also, with regard to potential biases (because it wasn't randomized), I also explained that just because you have a preference one way or another doesn't prevent you from reading particular articles. I've read up on X for WiiU and I look into XBone updates to be in the know regarding what it offers....I have no intention of getting a WiiU or Xbone at this moment in time, but that doesn't prevent me from reading articles related to them. So the "only people with interest in the PS4 are the readers" argument kinda doesn't apply.
