LOL. More Chinese want a system that their own country won't allow for 80% of its games to be imported over.

TAKE NOTE:

Shanghai Oriental Pearl Culture Development Co., Ltd. and Sony (China) Co., Ltd. have agreed to jointly set up two companies to be responsible for hardware and software products and services.

The two companies that were formed for this very specific investment were Shanghai Oriental Pearl Solatube Culture Development Co., Ltd., a 51% percent investment from Shanghai Oriental Pearl (about 5.1 million RMB) and a 49% percent investment from Sony China (about 4.9 million RMB). Sony is also investing 70% percent capital into the second company (about 3,066 million RMB), which is being named Sony Computer Entertainment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., while Shanghai Oriental Pearl is chipping in the remaining 30% percent.

In total, the investments from Sony Corp. into everything totals to roughly 1318.9 million RMB, which equates about $211.5 million dollars. The entire operation is going to enlist the talents of local game developers within China so that they can get an edge with exclusive content on Playstation platforms within the country, and to help promote growth within the Chinese video game industry.

All retail Playstation TV's can be PSM DEV units/wink

there is a very good reason why Sony's Advantage Higher in that survey and other's across China, and mainly it has nothing really to do with the PS4 vs The XBOXONE If you mainly want a reason or two its the Free 2 play investment by Sony which  most likely and that is Free 2 play being a larger investment for Sony for the PS3, PS4 and playstation Vita and Playstation TV , than Microsoft has for the xboxone and xbox360.

another thing is inside the free trade zone there Sony has been there in Shanghai  for quite a bit longer than Microsoft has!

6000 people for the poll.

Not sure its representative of the china, where there are multiple major subcultures per town

Itsrepresentative of those who probably have the means to buy a console.

I think both Xbone and PS4 will flop in China. China is PC territory and I don't think consoles will have a big impact there.

Obviously, not to mention console demand is being met by the gray market.

China is not the big market MS or those saying the PS4 will dominate there thinks it going to be.

That's probably why Sony doesn't even have a release date their.

Then again, SCEJ is supposed to be that entire area now.

Not Any More: Now its going to have its  very own playstation section

which is being named Sony Computer Entertainment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

The ONLY way that's gonna work is if these games are not on mobile or PC and these games are system sellers. Same for MS, they can't pull that console exclusivity crap in China.

Lol they think Japan is a hard market.

But is that not the point of free 2 play?

you do not have to pay for a network for in order to play online multiplayer!

by that very function alone look at the PS3, the PS4, Playstation Vita and Playstation TV is there games being made for Free 2 play right now on the playstation platforms more than xbox platforms?

that is a Yes!

SOE has and makes More PC Free 2 play MMO's and Games that are going now for Playstation platforms...

The fact there is when many Indie developers can make free 2 play games on the playstation platforms that do not require a cost for network play from the consumer's in china, and as it stands right now Sony more or less already dove into free 2 play, not just here and there but heavy, the fact that those free 2 play games can be indie will most likely not matter if they are exclusive or not, the PS4 is not even Andrew House's main target for penetration of a living room game console in China, its the playstation TV!

Sony for one has already released that unit in 5 other regions in Asia and now will release in Mainland China with a entry price point of around $102.00!

VS' both the xboxone and the PS4 WELL OVER $700.00+

It is Both Nintendo and Sony that have the Advantage in China due to time in the free trade zone over Microsoft..this is a fact, not to say Microsoft cannot pull in some sales number's but with such a price gap..im not betting anywhere near both Nintendo and Sony's Number's

This is where heavy investment into indies are going to pay off, umm well it should key would "may pay off" because anything can happen, but the fact Sony is investing in over $211 Million+ USD into that market to establish an Arm for playstation that is not a very small investment at all.

Among that $211+ Million some of that is start up money for a pub fund for developers in China, and that can net you a boat load of indie party exclusives!

PC and smartphones and tablets is going to have the Advantage in China that is fact, but it does not hurt the fact that the PSVita has smartphone and tablet chipset inside, and not a unknown one at that hell the GPU is the very same GPU thats inside the iPad III, JUST FASTER WITH MORE DEDICATED VIDEO RAM.

The fact that all PSVita retail units can be used to test indie coded Games and Sony offer's PSM self publishing. and Also Unity 3D game engine is now live for the PSVita platform this summer. there is a very good reason why the Playstation TV is Sony's console of choice to penetrate the market in China!

Ease of dev., low cost investment, and now with a very robust 3rd party game engine now in support of the platform. Many dev. out of China and publisher's already use Unity 3D.

Now with the fact an official playstation or Xbox or Nintendo platforms can be released in mainland china many consumer's are ready for these platforms for release. the growth can be high we just have to see how high that will be.
