I still don't get why people treat Emily Rogers like an insider. Her qualification is that she "keeps her ear to the ground?"

I really don't see Nintendo putting a "You keep the games after the fact" approach to a VC subscription service. That's just stupid, like really stupid, especially for virtual console games. I would rather a subscription service, if I stop subscribing I lose access. But the money from that service goes towards more VC games and more network services and so on and so fourth. People forget it cost money in dev time to update and release a virtual console game for the Wii U and 3DS. If a subscription service means a flood of VC titles and new consoles then I'm happy and I will subscribe. Considering Nintendo can capitalize big time on this with PC Engine/TurboGrafx, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, Arcade, Genesis, Master System, etc,,,
Like I have said in a million other places, Nintendo Network is a raging bull, it's going to force itself as a comparable service to PSN and XBL.

Hey! Keeping your ear to the ground all the time takes superhuman ability, dedication, and flexibility, so you watch your mouth!

AND GOOD KNEES!
I tried once, ended up in the hospital for weeks with broken legs and arms. I was told to leave it to professionals in the future

I'm taking this whole thing with a pretty big grain of salt too, but it's just fun to discuss it nonetheless. :)

Why not both? I don't see why a subscription service would replace the ability to buy games individually... |
I highly doubt it would. But in a theoritical situation in which one had to choose between a subscription service and cross-buy, we're saying we'd take cross-buy.

I'd take a subscription service across devices :) which would be the same as cross buy and you'd have access to all the games on VC as long as you kept your subscription.

I know that's what you, me, and most people want but think about it from Nintendo's perspective. Their games more than any other companies games people will buy MULTIPLE times in their lifetime. *Oh, this game is new I'll buy it. Oh, 7 years later they are releasing it with enhanced music on this new console, I'll buy it now too! Oh, they are rereleasing it 8 years later with an added dungeon that's all new?! I'll buy it now too!* They make money off of people rebuying their games. If they do the link to account thing, they will lose money in the long run. I predict Steam is going to fall hard in the next 5-10 years because most quality games will have been purchased by Steam clients already and they won't desire to rebuy it because they have it forever. |
Its not like you can play any XBL 360 indie game on XBO right? So they should just link it to every WiiU console you buy and for WiiU2 or whatever ther games dont need to be available anymore.
People just want to know that in case of their hardware failing or whatever they can still access the games and dont have to rebuy or get in contact with Nintendo.

Bolded: that's why it's not the same. Also makes me wonder how the DRM on 3DS would work since it's a portable device that likely would not always have network access.
Ok I added the new poll as requested. For once a serious poll from me! Lol
