Sony didnt create the Eyetoy to be a fad even though thats as good as its purpose could've stretched. Marketing changes perception. No. They wanted to create a better game that outsell Wii Sports focusing on skills. And it failed as nobody asked for perfect games but for fun ones. In that sense, Wii Sports is superior as doesn't need you to move perfectly, but to just move similar or emulate with a "dumbed down" perception.

Of course you are wrong, again, if you believe Nintendo is the only company with easy games.

Fads are very hard to create, its obvious Nintendo didn't do it intentionally because they have never managed to recreate it.

Yes, the PS4 only has to sell 10 mill a year, less than half the Wii's peaks in order get to 100 mil.

But at the Same time, the Wii was only a fad for its life time, 5 years, which is an incredibly long time for a fad to go on.

PS4 having a lifetime of a decade and still being relevant in the media would be it basically defining the remainder of the 2010 gen and the beginning of the 2020 gen.

Ps2 never reached those numbers but ended at 160 + million Sony has shown that whether it is in 1st or last place it will support its console throughout its lifetime. Unlike Nintendo.

Don't think it can match that, Wii was a full-blown fad after all.

PS4 should have much stronger legs resulting in higher lifetime sales, though... Assuming the PS4 is allowed a 6 year lifespan before a successor like the Wii was, anyways. Which it may well not.

I'm not hoping the PS4 fails, quite the contrary. Just seeing the writing on the wall. I don't think this gen will sniff last gens numbers. And if you think they will, well then you're the one posting bull shit pipe dreams : )

These sales are not completely for games from gamers, its from casuals who found the wii motion controls unique with the games Wii Sports etc., But PS4 sales are only from hardcore gamers and its about games and faith in Sony exclusives support in future.

To disregard "casual" consumers just because they're not "hardcore" gamers is folly.  One could argue that it is harder to sell a gaming device to a "casual" than a "hardcore" gamer.
