PS4 will probably be a lot more regular than what the Wii was, and in the end will catch up with it and outsell it.
120M sounds a good number to PS4 end life number.

That was the strength of the Wii though.  The sales were consistently sold out for the first 4 years of its sale.  PS4 is already starting to sit on the shelves by comparison.  40-70 million sounds good to me...

You're really underestimating the strength of long term legs. From launch until the end of 2010 the PS3 sold 46m and the Wii 82m. From then until now the PS3 has sold 36m vs the Wii with only 19m (11.5m of which came from 2011).

All those years of being sold out and absolutely crushing its competition, yet by the time the PS3/360 are discontinued the Wii's lead will likely be barley 10%. The smallest 1st place lead since before the NES.

That's not long legs, people just hated it at launch, but they loved Sony.  They held onto their old consoles until the price really came down.  PS4 actually had a good launch, so people aren't waiting to buy the system this time.  Not to mention, why would people buy more consoles in a generation that has significantly less games on it and an almost insignificant power increase over their old consoles.

You just described long legs. Also, the 360 had very long legs too, and people didn't hate it at launch.

That's not legs, that's a one time freak circumstance that will never happen again.

How is it a one time freak circumstance?

PS1: production cycle/support of 10+ years
PS2: production cycle/support of 10+ years
PS3: production cycle/support approx. 8 years and counting. It's a given that it will see at least 10 years of support.
PS4: anything less than 10 years of production/support would be the first deviation from a 20+ year 3 product cycle trend.

That doesn't change the fact that you should check numbers on a sale site before posting bullshit, have a nice day mister.

Also you can hope all you want for the ps4 to fall of but it won't happen lol, keep on dreaming :D

I'm not hoping the PS4 fails, quite the contrary. Just seeing the writing on the wall. I don't think this gen will sniff last gens numbers. And if you think they will, well then you're the one posting bull shit pipe dreams : )

You speak as if you're a fortune-teller.

And you treat your PREDICTIONS as though its the absolute truth. Don't try to state your opinions as facts and then call bullshit on other people.

PS3 was a terrible product when it came out, people were lining up to return them.  Not because they hated Sony or really didn't like their PS3's but because there were an overwhelming number of factors working against the PS3.  They were still going to get one eventually, even then the hype on this forum was absurd.  They just wanted to wait until Sony turned things around, which it didn't do until year 4...

Sony has learned, they aren't going to make another 600 dollar console ever again.  They aren't going to release the system with a god awful developer gui ever again.  Sony has their own first party studios up and running full steam this gen, so they can run their console half off of first party if they need to this gen.  Those are all weaknesses they don't have anymore.

According to vgchartz, the Wii's peak was over 24 million in just one year

Wii 24,188,263 (+46%)

I highly doubt PS4's peak will reach that. It will be lucky to get near it. Tell me what you guys think

What was PS2's peak?
