It's not a permanent price drop, but... http://unitygamingreviews.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/wii-u-bundles-being-sold-for-179

Current Consoles: Gaming PC, Wii U, 3DS

What huge backlog? The issue is the corelation between the price and the games released and upcoming. The tiny list of games might I add and no 3rd party support. Wii U has the bleakest future out of the 3 no matter how you spin it, thus isn't worth as much money.

Lets move your bias opinions aside and look at facts. The Xbone has many of the same titles as the PS4 and it is *not* selling as well. Nintendo released one game and now the Wii U is turning around and is outselling the Xbone. The price has stayed the same for the Wii U while the Xbone's price has dropped. Once again, it's not the price of the Wii U that's the problem.

Read my sig and quit the bias bullshit.

So now you're comparing the Wii U to the struggling XO? Cool. But you have problems with your perception of reality. And unfortunately, it's not the way you'd like it to be. If you go to the front page, XO has sold 20k more consoles than the Wii U last week. And this comes after the release of possibly the biggest game in the generation for Wii U. Cause that's exactly what Mario Kart 8 will possibly be. This wasn't just "one game". It was a bloody Mario Kart. It's their version of Halo. Wake up man, NOTHING is turning aroung. The game came and its effect is already gone, Wii U will most probably fall behind PS3 next week, let alone PS4 and XO.

If you think that the backlog is great and price is great as well, then why isn't it selling? What's missing? Let me tell you - the backlog isn't that awesome (it's decent, but nothing to go apeshit about) and the price is too high. That's what's wrong. N can't address the backlog in one move, but they can improve the price.

** Looks at your Sig **

Uhh... This recertifies your biasness. Mostly Sony products....

Yes, I am aware that VGcharts now shows the Xbone is outselling the Wii U, but many people believe those numbers are wrong and are waiting for the NPD, and for good reason.

Whatever the case may be, you are getting off topic. The point I'm trying to make here is that the price has little to do with the demand for the console. The console needs to produce value. The only thing to increase the value of the Wii U is to provide compelling software. Cutting the price would only give the Wii U a short boost in sales and then it'll drop back down again. Plus, it'll lower confidence among many consumers - because an even lower price would send signals that the Wii U is dying (which it isn't).

The WiiU might get a $50 price drop in the first half of 2015!

While I don't share your opinion, if Nintendo do it will be no more then 50 dollars off retail price.

I think Nintendo needs a price drop bad.  It's not a "gamers" console that has lower specs then PS4 or XB1.  It has a 32bg hd vs 500gb. PS4 & XB1 are $399 after getting a external 500gb HD for Wii U it's $375. I believe they need a price cut bad.  If you agree how much and when do you think they will.  If you don't think they need a price cut, why not?

Don't forget to factor in the price of PS +, & Xbox Live on the flip side of the coin.  Also don't forget too buy $80 worth of games for your new systems.  So value wise it's $375 vs $530($540 for Xbox)

No, it's not how it works. The console still costs $330. Just a tad less than a PS4. You are using the RRP of the extras, which don't express the real value of these products. WiiMote? Cool, but I already have more of those than I'll ever need. Wii Wheel? Have one, don't need any tbh. The only thing that really has true value here is MK8 (if it's a retail copy included here, cause I don't care for download codes). So no, it's not $160 for the console. I'm gonna repeat it. People don't want more value. People want a smaller price.

Moreover, this bundle isn't available in Europe

I can't even comprehend how ridiculous you are being. Okay. Let's say that no one needs a WiiMote (which is most likely not true) and that no one needs a Wii Wheel (probably very true). So just forget that those are even included (which is stupid, but whatever). The bundle still comes with a must have game that costs $60 and a free game that costs $60 if you choose Pikmin 3 or a little less than $60 if you choose a different game. Now, let's assume that because most people (unlike you, who, for probably the sake of your argument, decides that the code is worthless) like free shit that's really, really easy to acquire (just type in the code to your Club Nintendo account, literally the easiest thing ever), we can still subtract the 2 game prices from the $330 dollars to get a Wii U price of $210 dollars. Pretty cheap, eh? And of course I'm using the RRP of the extras. Why the hell would I not? That literally makes no sense at all. If someone were to buy a Wii U and then buy 2 first party Nintendo games for their console (which will most likely happen, because people buy Nintendo hardware for Nintendo games), it would cost them...drumroll please......$420! But with this bundle it only costs $330 and you get a FREE Wii Wheel and WiiMote that you can throw in the trash, use, or sell. The bundle saves you a whole $90 and I didn't even include the extra $10 dollars of sales tax you're saving! Literally the whole point of any bundle is to effectively reduce the price of the console, which this bundle does quite nicely.

And the fact that it isn't available in Europe (which isn't entirely true, as we all know it is available in some countries in Europe, Poland not being one of them I guess) doesn't really have anything to do with our argument.

I'm not being ridiculous, it's just the way this world works. So the console is $210 in this bundle (if you assume the eshop game is worth $60, which is a blasphemy for me, I would never pay $60 for a PSN game, let alone a eshop game tied to a stupid piece of plastic and not my account). Cool. Now ask yourself what would make a bigger impact on the market and sell more consoles - such a bundle or the console for $210? Or even $230? Thought so. Which is exactly my point. This console still costs you $330. It's a good offer, but it's still $330. People look and see $330 and think they can get a PS4 for just $70 more. If the console was $230, that would be $170 more - not comparable anymore. This is how people think, this is the reality and you can't fight that.

And you are wrong, this bundle isn't available anywhere in Europe. The European one just has Mario Kart and the downloadable game in it. No WiiMote, and no Wii Wheel.

Clearly I'm not going to sway you. I still believe you're thinking is incorrect and your response to my previous post didn't really counteract any of the points I made. People look at bundles and generally say, "Wow, that bundle effectively reduces the price of the console to _____ dollars". If you're stupid, maybe you wouldn't say that, but someone with half a brain thinks the way that I just stated.

And why the hell do you care if the bundle doesn't come with a WiiMote/Wii Wheel? I thought they were worthless? Using something that's worthless to you as part of your argument? I think we're done here. Boom. *drops the mic*

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

I hope all the people looking forward to a price reduction this year won't be too disappointed.

In any case, if they really do want the system a bit cheaper, Nintendo is selling the refurbished systems off their website at attractive prices.

They're gonna drop it $50 by the last half of next year. My guess is they don't want to lose money too early thanks to the gamepad.
