It should be another third party - mainly a Japanese one, only one comes to mind and sadly it is SEGA.


Square Enix? It's one of the few Japanese 3rd parties I know of.


Actually that might not be a bad idea considering their Eidos division is coming along great - its just Squareenix's expectations are TOO high to the point where Capcom's hidden gems may never see the light of day :O


It would be interesting if Square moved their focus away from AAA (besides FF) and split up their dev teams (and money) to work on several smaller franchises. Might be a bad idea, but it's just my thoughts.

Looking at their library of games, they have absolutely nothing of value. They are not a salvageable company.

Making RE more marketable (shootery) didn't work, they just got called Gears clones. Lost Planet is dead. Dead Rising 3 only exists because MS needed a launch game.

Their only option is to downsize, and resort to those crappy monster catching games.
