Forums - Nintendo - Zelda U: The Zelda title the Wii U deserves, but not the one it needs?

I don't think it looks too similar to Skyward Sword. I believe I see some cel shading going on there -- not as much as in Wind Waker, but enough to separate the style from SS. Judging from the short glimpse we get of Link, character designs are also styled a bit differently from SS. I don't know how to explain it except to say that Link looks a bit more anime-influenced, and the cel shading makes a huge difference in the details of his facial features.

Colors are also much more vivid than in SS. To me it looks like a middle ground between WW and SS, with lighting, colors, and effects similar to those in the former but character designs more closely resembling those in the latter.

bolded: What? it's already quite above the tech demo, and I don't mean aesthetically (altough it's also superior in that department).

To be fair, the tech demo had much better shadows, lighting, and reflections.

Only problem is, the Wii U probably wouldn't be able to sustain that level of visuals. The Zelda from the tech demo looked better than any last or current gen game, imo

bolded: no, it didn't have better shadows, lightining, reflections. and the zelda for wii u is ALREADY sustaining far more than the tech demo. anyone with eyes can see the difference.

You're kidding right? I love the new art style, but the tech demo had it beat in those categories. Look at the reflection on the ground. Look at the way the lighting and shadows interact with Link and the spider.

Have you considered that grass, trees and rocks aren't really reflective? The game quite ahead of the tech demo in terms of graphics, that's what matters.

So... On what do you base your claim that the reflection is better in that new trailer, if there is hardly any in it?

Because I'm talking about the GAME, not the trailer. and the game looks better than the tech demo in every aspect.

You specifically say that the tech demo didn't have better reflections.
But how can you say that if there's hardly any (if at all) reflection in the new trailer?

Seriously... Zero999, Sometimes... -___-

If people want photorealism let them play Hyrule Warriors. I'm very happy with the art style of the next Zelda game, it's not too happy and not too dark, basically how Zelda is meant to be (ALttP, OoT).

I don't agree often with you, but yeah, pretty much what you said. Although Hyrule Warriors isn't photorealistic at all. xD

The new art style is awesome. I really can't wait for them to show us how the game will actually play. And what the story will be about this time around. I'm sure there will be darker places as well. How will it look with this new art style?

Again, Nintendo seems to be producing the Zelda game I've been waiting for since Wind Waker. An open world that goes back to the formula of the original game.

The game is superior than the tech demo, there's nothing to discuss.

I really hope cell-shaded Link is a temporary model holder. I am DONE with cel shading, I loathe it more than peas, and I can't f**king stand peas.

When 3rd party zombi-U can do realistic character models, there's no excuse for a lack of HD Link.

bolded: ????? do you know what HD is?

Yup, its the slang term used by all gamers these days when they are refering to high poly 3d modeling and realistic texturing. It also refers to anything from 1280x720 resolution(aka 720i or p) upward. I clearly used the first model of the word, in gamer slang.
