Forums - Nintendo - Zelda U: The Zelda title the Wii U deserves, but not the one it needs?

just a reminder, zelda was never realistic.

I agree 100%, but Aonuma considers Twilight Princess "ultra realistic," and he considers Skyward Sword "cartoony realistic." I was going by his description, not my belief. He's never making another Twilight Princess is what I'm saying. He doesn't like that look. He originally was making Twilight Princess look like Wind Waker.

bolded: let's make a few things clear: Zelda for Wii U is NOT CARTOON. people aren't looking for better graphics but if they were, they wouldn't complain because zelda u's graphics look perfect. and what do you mean by "not the type of zelda to bring in too many new gamers"? This is exactly the type of zelda that atracts new gamers and bring back old ones. It's the huge open world adventure we always wanted. I know there are many shallow people but you are SEVERELY OVERESTIMATING their numbers. you are basically saying that millions of people aren't interested in zelda but would be if it were realistic.

Yes, it is. It is cartoon. It's literally the definition of cartoon. It's anime. Last time I checked, anime is a cartoon. The graphics are perfect, but let's not misunderstand. It's a perfect cartoony, cell shaded, anime-like art style.

it is cell shaded on characters, if link is any indication, but that has nothing to do with cartoon. cartoon is lack of proportion (ex: wind waker). this zelda is perfectly proportional + cell shading, it's not cartoon.

Yes it is. Cartoon is NOT lack of proportion. Anime is porpotunate. Comic art is porportunate. Lot's of cartoons are porpotunate. This is absolutly cartoony. Wind Waker is just one style of cartoon. Powerpuff Girls is a cartoon. The Amazing Spiderman is a cartoon. Your point is moot. The game has a cartoon art style.

Less popular IP, far less quality game.

And nobody wanted it to look like that, they wanted it to look like this:

bolded: no, it doesn't. HD is just resolution. if anything, Zelda U looks like a mix of what's the best in WW, TP and SS, while being made in super high polygon, high texture, high everything. AND it's in HD.

bolded 2: Zelda U is litting the internet. most people loved it.

1. HD is a colloquial term for visual improvement, especially when referring to upgraded visuals. It looks little like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess, imo. The color usage and the bright/dark levels are pretty much evolutionary of Skyward Sword's art style.

2. Many people love it, yes. But how long will the hype really last? Most of the people excited for it are Zelda fans who already have a Wii U. I, for one, am super hyped for it. But it's not the type of Zelda to bring in too many new gamers. People are looking for better graphics, as shallow as that may sound, and a cartoon Zelda will not help sway them.

People like me and you appreciate the beauty of the game. The reality is, most people couldn't care less. All they see is the cartoon world of Zelda, compared to a realistic world of the Elder Scrolls or Grand Theft Auto or Dragon Age on the other consoles, and choose the others. Unfair? Yes. But it's reality.

By dark/lights and colors standards it certainly is. The game is cel-shaded in the anime archetype, which makes it a cartoon.

And yes, that is what I'm saying. It's the way thing is. Kids these days buy games for the graphics, and they don't stop to appreciate artistic beauty. Aonumua himself admitted that cartoon Zeldas don't have the appeal of realistic Zeldas.

You are right: if there is a giant spider the sales are much better.

Brutal Legend - X360 - 2009 - Electronic Arts - 0.94 - Metascore 82

Intentionally missing the point doesn't help your argument.

I agree that TP would have sold a lot better than this new mixture of SS/WW.
But I think Wii U won't be capable of the graphical style of the tech demo in the game we suppose they are gonna release.

Unlike the last time, this one Nintendo is promising a more big open world, similar to the first one, and that was a big complain during the last years. Aonuma has to choose between the artstyle or the world, and he choose the world. I'm glad, and hopefully they deliver this time.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Yeah, I'd take the world everytime.

It won't be quite the sales juggernaut, but as long as it's a great game that's all that matters. Hopefully even the stingiest of fans warm up to it.
