Fuck you, let me dream. If not now, it will happen anyway. It has to, I'm not ready to lose God of War yet this gen.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!

Bayonetta doesn't come close to God Of War in terms of combat, story, graphics and sense of scale. Good thing I would have the real deal instead. |
Bayonetta is infinitely better than GoW in literally every way that actually matters in an action game lmao. Combat is better, and the sense of scale is was better. Plus it actually takes thought to play through Bayonetta. Story means nothing in an action game, and Bayontta's graphics are more than good enough. Nothing against GoW, but it's definitely no Bayonetta.

Its clear you have never played God Of War. It has FAR better combat, FAR better graphics (III and Ascension) and WAY better sense of scale (and the last two aren't even subjective). Story matters in a single-player game. Puzzles indeed are better in Bayonetta but they don't matter in an epic action game.
There is a reason why God Of War III far outsold Bayonetta even though the latter released in one more platform.
So we will be fighting mummies then.
Why not Asian Mythology? Asura's Wrath was pretty cool, though very losely based.
Fighting Dragons, stone army coming to life. Or maybe solely based on Japanese mythology, that would skyrocket PS4 sales there i think.

One was a new IP that was fairly niche, while the other wasn't?

I just said I have played it. The better combat point is a joke. Frankly, it only has "better combat" if you're bad at video games. Graphics don't matter, and story doesn't matter. Story doesn't matter in an action game the same way plot never mattered on Super Mario. Plot in a video game is meant to get you from A to B. That's it. If it's good, that fine, but if it's servicably like Bayonetta's, it's whatever. Who cares. You play a game to play it, not to watch cut scenes. Bayonetta's combat is harder, more epic, and far deeper than anything GoW has ever put out in any of it's iterations so far. Bayonetta is infinitely the better game. Like, not even up for debate.
God of War III out sold Bayonetta because it's a first party exclusive that is part of an established franchise that is an accessable western style action game being sold in the west with an extremely familiar western style story, that being about greek/roman gods. Bayonetta is a niche japanese new IP that was a completely punishing action game being sold to the west with a nonsensical plot and an extremely unfamiliar plot.
Egyption gods! Pleaseeeeee
