Forums - Sales - WiiU up 666% in the UK thanks to Mario Kart!!!

Are you impressed with WiiU's 10 - 12k sold this week in the UK?

Very impressed, above PS4... 581 46.44%

They're ok, it will need... 205 16.39%

Not that great, I expected more 77 6.16%

Terribad, this was suppos... 89 7.11%

See results 296 23.66%

Total:1,248

Sounds like we'll get a fantastic WW boost!
I'm sad, though. Nintendo's probably not going to have any titles of note until August (and even then it's probably niche like Bayo 2). Then we can probably get one a month for the rest of the year, but not having anything to hold MK's momentum for over 2 months is... disappointing.

Always great to see sales discussions on Reddit

The guy writing on Reddit is really "Special", isn't he. He reckons that Argos sold more PS4's and XB1's in the UK than the entire number of either that were actually sold in all retailers combined.

Wow! Go MK8! This may be a record sales boost from a single game. We usually see a doubling and sometimes a tripling, with quadrupling being even rarer. But an over six-fold increase? Unheard of. Can't wait to see what the rest of the world looks like. April NPD is going to be interesting, that's for sure. It'll also be interesting to see if the MK8 bundle gives a substantial long-term boost to sales.

It feels kinda like Japan's holiday all over again though; people were citing the percentage and cheering when the reality was that the only thing making such a high percentage rise possible was amazingly low sales to begin with and the end result wasn't even all that, especially when January came around.

I guess what I'm saying is; let's see what the numbers are a few weeks from now, there are people who have claimed that the Wii U will settle on a 60-80 baseline after Mario Kart and through most of summer. Me, I'm guessing it'll be back in the thirties by the middle of July.

More or less same effect XB1 got for Titanfall, didn't last long. 1 game can't have such a huge impact.

Oh, my forecast for the WiiU LT sales just increased to 66.6 mln.

Wow, I thought 666% would be a higher number than that! I'm not that impressed anymore .

Who would have thought that the power of the devil would help the WiiU like that?

Percentage doesn't mean shit.

I've often heard complaints that Nintendo hasn't marketed its games at all. Perhaps this would be a decent time for them to push some of their catalogue titles? I recall them doing similar things during the Wii/DS days, when advertisements for games which launched two or three years prior were still seen every time and again.
