Umm no it wasn't, ps3 was the same way. The market is different now as well, things change. It's common sense, and anyone who is not in massive deniakl knows Final Fantasy , metal Gear, etc (Insert game here)...will greatly improve sales,

PS3 started slow worldwide. The price was probably an important reason. The PS4 starts extremely good worldwide - only in Japan it's bad. Japan was also fast to adopt the Wii, the PS2, the PS1. Still, I can see no reason why this gen should be different. It look more like every home console is struggling in Japan.

And if you read this forums carefully, you see that many claim that if you're not in massive denial it is clear Mario Kart and Smash will turn around the sales for the WiiU. And the two WiiU-games at least will release this year. Then will FF hit? Do you think it will matter anymore at this time?

Because the PS4 is on a decline in Japan.  I think the Wii U will have greater numbers next week.

The wiiu will geta  boost from MK and smash but ps4 wont from huge japan games liek Final Fantasy, Metal GEar? Resi Evil? LOL,.

 

If you want to be in denial, and eat crow in a year so be in, anyone who knows anything abotu the game industry knows ps4 will easily win japan. You think sony ahs nothing else lined up? Sony japan? Level 5, more projects? PS4 will have third party japan support, nintendon't.

Why should I eat crow, I didn't made any predictions or assumptions about the future. I only analyze the facts as they are today. And fact is:

1. PS3 started slow worldwide, while PS4 only does it in Japan.

2. PS4 numbers in Japan are horrible on an absoute scale (WiiU too), PS3 never did that bad.

3. If you talk about possible turnaround through games that are years away from release, than I'm not the one in denial.

4. WiiU currently HAS japanese 3rd-party support: Monster Hunter, Hyrule Warriors, Resident Evil, Bayonetta. What japanese 3rd-party support does the PS4 have? You hope for Level 5, but Level 5 is happily releasing games for 3DS. Just or fun, look at the sales of Youkai Watch. What for concrete projects are announced for PS4? And agaiN, FFXV might be bg, but it is far in the future, the sales for PS4 are bad NOW (Japan only naturally), and they will not get better with anything on the horizon this year.

the fact that is barely out sold the Wii U is pretty bad not matter what you say and we have no idea when Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear is coming out (assusming square enix actually releases KH3 and FF15 is gen) so the PS4 will probably doing bad in japan for while

Everything is true here or i agree with aside from PS4 destroying the competitors in all territories. Its mainland (japan) its not destroying in fact its losing as of now.
