From the e3 video, to the way the guy was choosing his words describing the 'open' world (like figuring out how to get somewhere, and enter an area from any direction) I strongly have a feeling this is going to be a corridored map, not an actual open world ala Elder Scrolls or GTA. Watch the demo again and see.

Yea I imagine somewhat similar to Skyward Sword.  Where the whoel world is sort of like a giant dungeon.  You can go anywhere, but you need to have bombs to get to one section, or hookshot another.

I just hope its not as claustophobic as Skyward Sword.  It does need a giant open plain at some points, or some giant empty dessert.  Sure you can throw in some valleys and caverns and stuff, but something where I can go full out with Epona at full speed needs to be there to get that Wind Waker feeling of "wow this world is HUGE"

I dont get that impression while watching the demo. I will hold onto my belief until I see gameplay that proves otherwise. I would like to believe its completely open, but he didnt dispel my doubts. Also when did he (the translator) say 'seamless'.

In the video Link rides off screen. And back on screen from the side onto a corridor like scene (the bridge) doesnt strike me as open world

The video was using camera angles for dramatic effect.

He talked about Seamless when talking about Wind Waker.  They didnt' have the technology back then to make Wind Waker as open world as they wanted so they tricked us by having big ocean inbetween islands and stuff loaded and what not while sailing and gave us eht impression that we were in a seamless world but actually weren't.

It's like how in Metroid Prime games the areas would load while you were on an elevator or flying ship cutscene.  Just a neat trick to make us not notice loading.  The reason the sailing was so slow was because of this as well.  The Wii U was powerful enough that is coudl load all of Wind Waker at once and thus they coudl give us the swift sail and you can see islands in teh distance much sooner cause they are already loaded the whole time.

This clears things up. I have a lot of expectations for the open world aspects of the game.

He's said seamless in other interviews. It's actually cited in this thread iirc.

Makes me happy. I know. But still little worried. They said the same for Xenoblade U. Very exciting stuff!

I'm actually afraid the world will be too big. Skyrim is boring as shit and the fact that you need a horse doesn't bode well in my opinion.

Whoa whoa whoa.

Vanilla Skyrim is boring,

I'm still playing Modded Skyrim on my 5-6 playthough.

Skyrim should always be played on a PC.

I'm only taking a break from Skyrim by playing Watch_Dogs atm.

What exactly do mods add gameplay wise that make Skyrim not boring.

Patrols that wander around and fight bandits, vampires and warewolfs.  Bandit that fight each other.  Animals that fight each other.  New fortresses and barracks.  Animals in packs.  More vegation to make the world look less empty.

that's just to name a small few.

have to be careful when low level.  Can't just run up and fight anything you see.  See flashy lights in the distance, go other direction.  9 times out of 10 its some patrol fighting or dying by some vampires that will kick your ass.

That doesn't sound like it could make it any less boring...

"Many people from the media kept asking me if the footage from the new Zelda game for Wii U is just a promotional movie, but that really is actual gameplay [in-game assets] on Wii U." - Aonuma

This is what I was afraid of. I looks likes some kind of crappy quick time event. Zelda does not need QTEs, let alone dum ass mechanical laser shooting beasts.

It was not a quick time event.  It was just a little movie put together using the real game.  Be like watching a Mario kart highlight reel.  Pretty sure they are using angles in that, that are not possible when driving a race.

Have you played a Zelda game before?  Enemies have been shooting lasers for many many years.  Have you forgotten about the totem pole eye that when it sees you it shoots out a LASER beam at you?
