I keep seeing posters peg QB for 2014.
This is from the studio that took 5 years to make Max Payne and a further 5 years to make Alan Wake. Unless it's officially confirmed with a set launch date for 2014, my bet is on 2015.

That was a price drop on the original 60 gig model, and then they came out with the 80 gig model a little after the price drop, but it still had BC, it just didn't have some of the hardware so it relied on software emulation. It wasn't until the 40gig model and the slim came out that they dropped the BC. I also got rid of my 60gig model when the slim came out. That thing cranked up the temperature in my room by like 20 degree's every time I turned that sucker on! |
80g had the EE chip. The first price cut yo are talking about is was the discontinuation of the 20gb with the 60gb taking the lower price and the 80gb retailed for 599. Then in Nov (a year later) the 40gb release at 399 with no BC

No, I don't mean that Kinect Sports single handedly made them drop the Kinect, but that its lack of success maybe was the thing that finally pushed them over the edge.
If the game had become a success then they'd seen that as a sign that the people want the Kinect for gaming, but it not even selling 200k physical copies to date, might have shown them that for gaming purposes not too many people really care about the Kinect.
And since MS is hard at work to now establish that the X1 is a games machine first and foremost, it only makes sense for them to drop the peripheral that apparently not too many people really use for gaming.

Looks like most of vgc got this one...right! That was only a few months ago though, so you guys don't deserve too much credit. I mean, even Polygon had figured it out by then!
edit: earlier thread, vgc not so right here! http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=170774 What happens when MS inevitably drops Kinect?
who is this person??
And who is this gorgeous person?? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=178605&page= Polygon: Microsoft needs to admit the Xbox One Kinect is a peripheral, not a pack-in

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
.
Now, this is not a mega-ton, this is somewhere between a giga-ton and a tera-ton, so the OP should be updated :P
The battle (for NA and one place in the Europe region [the UK]) really begins!
Thanks jlmurph!

What? The PS3 hardware less reliable than the 360? Was this in some alternate universe where the RRoD didn't exist?

yeah... so exactly what I just said...
| Azerth said: so for those day one buyers that are upset just sell the kinect on ebay there you go extra money |
Sounds like a good idea.

I guess it is the same universe that I mentioned the 360...
We are talking about early adopters vs late adopters fyi, not ps3 vs 360
