You're slanting your argument in your favor by completely ignoring one simple, but very important fact:
Star Fox Assault way undersold Star Fox 64, because it was a piece of flaming dogshit. It only had TWO (the first two) levels of the entire game that actually played out like Star Fox should (and those were the GOOD levels of the game). Most of the rest of it was repetitive, garbage "on ground" missions, or missions where you could get in and out of the Arwing in tiny ground based stages. Namco did a HORRIBLE job with that game, and Nintendo never should have let someone else touch the franchise. They did SF64 themselves, they should have done it's sequel themselves.
But that's besides the point. The POINT is, Assault sold poorly because it deserved to. And Command on DS also sold poorly, because, in all blunt honesty, who the FUCK wants to control the Arwing exclusively with the goddamn touch screen? That game, for that one reason alone, at least, was horrible also. So there has not been a genuinely GOOD "arcadey 3D shooter" since SF64, really. No wonder the genre hasn't done so well. Sin & Punishment 1 didn't even come to NA, the Panzer Dragoon game on Xbox wasn't as good as it should have been, and wasn't properly promoted/was put on the wrong console. Sin & Punishment 2 on Wii is a good game, but it's also far more "niche" than Star Fox, with a bizarre, out there, hard to even follow Japanese anime style plot, and sometimes very frustratingly-hard gameplay.
But there hasn't been an abundance of those types of games, period. And I think if Nintendo put out a GOOD HD Star Fox, people would want it, and buy it. I would prefer Nintendo to have some of the same folks involved with 64 do it again themselves. But I don't care if Platinum does it, if Retro does it, if Next Level does it....so long as Namco or Team Ninja don't come within 20 miles of it, and so long as it's GOOD (and true to Star Fox), then I'll be fine with it.
