Forums - Nintendo - Prediction: Nintendo will announce everything for the wrong platform

That's honestly just bizarre and I doubt we'll see anything like that.

Hmm. I don't think they could call 2D Metroid on WiiU viable. I don't think they'd feel they can charge $50+ for it, and I'd probably agree. But I would eat up a 2D HD Metroid with good art that built upon the groundwork Super Metroid laid. I suppose that would be viable for them on 3DS and I'd take it there too.

3D Metroid I'd only like to see on WiiU, so you're right that would be a mistake.

I could go for a new and improved version of Battalion Wars (modern console Advance Wars branch) on WiiU, but it wouldn't be a success. They could hopefully push a million units with a fantastic Advance Wars on 3DS.

F-Zero I'd take on 3DS any day! But I suppose the WiiU would need it more, and of course HD would be impressive.

I think the Miyamoto IP of course needs to be on WiiU. But sadly I think no matter the quality it will probably be no more successful than his last big IP Pikmin on the system. I hope it makes money and isn't something Nintendo will abandon. They can use new IP, we all know.

Fire Emblem I don't know. It's a type of game that wouldn't really benefit from being on WiiU, and as niche as it is it probably wouldn't sell well there, half a million. They have the chance to grow it again with another million seller if they make the next portable entry new and tempting enough.

And Star Fox needs WiiU, and it needs to be nothing like Star Fox Adventures. But I just don't know how relevant Nintendo can make an arcadey space shooter like that in the modern age. It was great for the market 15 years ago but Nintendo will really have to work on revamping it and bringing something new but still having it be the type of game we want.

Star Fox, F-Zero, and Fire Emblem aren't the things that will hit big for them, though, anywhere. Metroid probably moreso, but it'll be no Mario or Zelda for them in terms of pure volume.
Knowing Nintendo I can see them making maybe one of these "mistakes".

What's wrong with fire emblem coming to wii u? there is already a 3ds game, no need for another one in a while. The rest, Nintendo is stupid but not THAT stupid, besides f-zero and star fox? =P

Miyamoto = First Person Shooter (for the 3DS)

I'm trying to understand where you gets you logic. Clearly you know more then me, help me understand.

Fire Emblem on Wii U would be awesome.

If Nintendo announces all that at e3, regardless of platform, I will be one happy camper. But, they won't announce crap for the wiiu, the 3ds I expect a solid showing.

Would be so awesome that you need to post it 2 times!!

Some of these actually sound pretty good. A 2D Metroid game with the scope of a modern console game? Hell yeah. A game like Other M or a sequel to Metroid Prime Hunters on the 3DS? Not bad. A console Advance Wars? Don't mind that. F-zero in 3d? Sounds pretty good. A new console Fire Emblem? That's great.

Of the 13 Fire Emblem titles, 7 have been on consoles, including the first five entries in the series. The ratio is skewed towards handhelds outside of Japan, but considering that the majority of the sales will be coming from that region anyways, I don't see why this matters.
I also still fail to see how the core gameplay is more suited more towards one than the other. FE8 and 13 offered skrimish missions that worked for short sesssions, but these were more the exception than the rule for the franchise. Console or handheld, when I'm sitting down to play FE, it's usually going to be 45 min+ sessions.

As for the others, I would much prefer Star Fox and F-Zero on a console, but I'm pretty ambivalent towards the rest. As long as the entry is solid, I won't mind which system it's on.
