The 3DS remake sold pretty well, in all honesty, at over 700k. That's pretty good for a remake not called Zelda or Mario. And interest in remakes is usually far lower than for brand new games. Just ask WWHD. The point is, if Nintendo presented gamers with a brand new, gorgeous, epic HD Star Fox, that was very much in the vein of SF64 (as it should be), I am certain there would be a huge amount of hype for it, and it would sell at LEAST 1 million, most likely more. |
Star Fox Assault was most definitely an arcadey shooter. It was even originally slated for the arcade. Yet the game only sold 1/4 of what 64 sold

Depending on the game being remade, the effects are different. For a game in a mostly dead genre( how many non remake arcadey shooters that game out in the past 5 years can you name), a remake may be inflating sales to average entry sales. Also for a Wii U one, an HD arcadey shooter as deep as 64 would probably would probably reach close to $1 million budget and probably not sell 1 million units on the Wii U
