I just find unintentionally racist characters to be funny.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, apparently Marvel wants to introduce "MS Marvel" into the Avengers universe or have her own tv show, she was played by four women so far (reboot after reboot) the last one however is a pretty popular topic on the internet at the moment, it got "#1" in marvel comics when it was released, she is played by a Pakistani Muslim teenager who "wants to fit in" in "Amreeka" but "Abu" and "Amu" doesn't let her, so she spends most of her time writing Avengers fanfic on Freakingcool.com (Reddit) and  as it turns out khara (shit) hits the fan and she turns out to be a shapeshifter.

Apparently people like her because of number of reasons

• She's a dork
• She's not into the "ridiculous skimpy outfit" thing that comic books are trying to get away from
• She's a dork
• She's brown
• She's a dork
• She's a teenager but not a pretentious one (as far as I read anyways)
• She's inintentionally racist, and calls people infidels.

So Muslims don't go around smelling pork and wishing they had the good life of us Christians?

Weird. Always thought they did.

(actually doesn't seem a bad character idea, but they're going a little heavy on the Muslim angle.)

I don't know if that shit is supposed to be so intentionally dumb that it's funny or it's just so up its own ass about being enlightened by having a non-terrorist Muslim character (look! she's Muslim!) that it's funny, but either way, multiculturalism is fucking hysterical sometimes.

It is, but this one is done alright.

Thats what I thought at first (it annoys me as well, freaking annoying whiny muslims) but it turns up enjoyable and more on the "dork" side

As a Muslim, I really liked the new Ms.Marvel, that being said I only read issue #1 and the first half was a bit too heavy on the "hey check it out, she's a muslim! Look at how normal but also multicultural she is!"

Then the cliffhanger comes. :(

Also, I do sometimes joke with my non-muslim friends and call them "infidels" and "pork eating heathens".

That's what Kamala is doing, she doesn't say infidels to anyone but her friends (both the Hijab women and the store clerk are her school friends) as a joke. She's not unintentionally racist.

She wouldn't fit, good character or not. Then again introducing Carol Danver's isn't going to be easy either, human-kree hybrid because of some kind of explosion? They haven't even introduced Krees to the Marvel Movieverse yet.

Oh and they should shoehorn a character in to meet quota, that's worse. Much to the reason many didn't like racial changes of characters in say FF or Thor.

You know seeing this again I have a feeling someone made a porn comic out of this very line.

What the worlds needs is more american exceptionalism.. Definitely not enough of that :/
