Forums - Nintendo - When it comes to WIiU why do western 3rd parties get so much flack, while Japanese ones dont?

i disagree, i say its likely it WONT get localized. The last one wasnt and that was on a console that was MUCH more popular. If they didnt do it then, i dont see why they would now. Dont know why you brought up those other games, different situations. I WANT to be wrong about this. BUt i dont have faith in Tecmo and especially Nintendo when it comes to this, ill believe it when i see it.

X shows that Nintendo's stance on localization has improved; they're openly advertising a sequel to a game they almost didn't bring over two years ago.

And the last console Fatal Frame was localised in Europe and Australia.

I've also wondered why some believe that western publishers are biased and want Nintendo to fail. That doesn't make any sense. If a publisher estimate that a Wii U release will be profitable they'll make it.

With the exception of EA (BF 3, NFS, Crysis 3 and sports games) and Take 2 (GTA V and sports games) I think that western publishers have provided strong support for the Wii U. Especially compared to japanese publishers whose only games on Wii U are funded/published by Nintendo (Super Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, Fatal Frame V, Ninja Gaiden 3, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, etc).

So where are the big Japanese franchises equivalent to Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Just Dance, Splinter Cell, Watch Dogs, Zombi U, Batman, LEGO, etc? The only big Western games that didn't release on Wii U are GTA V and EA's BF, FIFA and Madden. Blame EA and not every single Western publisher.

Where's the Wii U version of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer, Castlevania, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Yakuza, Dark Souls, Tales of, etc? Do you honestly believe that the Wii U has stronger support from Japanese publishers than Western?

Also Hyrule Warriors, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Boom, etc. are published/funded by Nintendo.

That's fair, but the bolded part is important. Those properties are huge in Japan, but (excluding Dragon Ball) are rather niche in the West, so of course Western Nintendo fans wouldn't be likely to make a big stink about these games being Sony/Xbox exclusives. And considering the quality of recent DBZ titles, I don't see any reason for Nintendo console owners to be upset about their inability to experience DBZ Kinect or Battle of Z. Same as with Colonial Marines.

Well, to be fair, One Piece/Dragon Ball/Naruto/Jojo consistently come to the west.  They're niche over here, but niche doesn't stop a title being enjoyable.  I do understand your point though.

Regarding the bolded, though, I don't really understand.  I thought Dragon Ball Z was a "fun if you like that kind of thing but repetitive" game.  The kind of game Tecmo Koei makes year in year out with their Warriors series.  Their Warriors series which has recently extended to Hyrule Warriors which is being lauded as an example of good third party support for the console.

Or, by the same extension, SEGA.  Who've managed to put out a decent port of a Sonic Racing game and then an averagely-received Sonic platformer and an averagely-received Sonic minigame collection.  Which, seemingly, is "good" support.  What makes that different to Namco putting out some averagely-received Dragon Ball Z or other anime-licenced-property games?  I guess their downloadable classics help add to the mix, but I still don't think it's a particularly strong showing.

i wouldnt say openly advertised as they have only shown it in bursts. We still dont have a solid release date for even Japan on that game.

Europe and Australia arent America. THey are there own things. BUt i HOPE you are right, I hope Reggie pulle his head out of his ass, because lets face it Europe has been doing a better job than US has when it comes to this. God i cant stand that smug face.

This, another point I was trying and failing to get at. They are getting niche stuff from Japan if at all but nothing close to their flagship titles.

But at least they are showing trailers and gameplay of X in Western Directs, while with Xenoblade they all but denied its existence.
