I got a free $50 giftcard with purchase of me Wii U, so yeah, I'm forced to get physical, which is what I wanted anyway!

OR.... you could buy $50 eShop credit, buy game digitally, then get the 10% back in eShop credit.

I'm pretty sure you still have to get an official repair to transfer games, unless they recently changed that policy.

And a Nintendo console breaking isn't fictional at all. I've personally never had a Nintendo console fail on me, but shit happens. You can never be too safe.

I guess I just don't live in fear like others. Plus Nintendo has already stated many times they are not done with improving their account system. They now have it on 3DS and have stated it will continue to grow including allowing you to log into other hardware. Its also not like WiiU will be their last home console and they sure won't ask WiiU owners to mail in WiiUs to transfer NNID accounts.

Worst case is you'll have the transfer system similar to DS/3DS or they'll do as stated and have a online type of device control system similar to iOS/Android, etc.

It's in HD, how is it so small? o.o

But I won't! I also heard that Target is doing a deal where you get a free MK8  key chain and $5 giftcard for pre-ordering MK8, so I'm gonna be looking into that tomorrow!

The worst case is exactly what I'm afraid of, I hate the tranfer system on the 3DS. It feels like you're renting the game from Nintendo, and if you lose your console, you have to go through Nintendo to get your games back, even though you paid for them and should have complete control over them.

I buy digital-only on every other console- Vita, PS3, PS4, 360, etc.

Once Nintendo gets their game together, I'll switch to digital for them too.

Hot damn that's small. There are Wii games larger than that. The Nintendo magic compression technique strikes again.

Retail.

Not only because it looks better on my shelf and I can physically have a collection, that way I actually own the game. The real thing, instead of just air. And I can be certain I am able to play the game forever.

4.9GB? That's really not that much..

It tends to be the textures, voice acting and cut scenes that add a lot to the file size of many games. With simplistic cartoon textures and no major examples of the latter too, 5GB seems about right. Of course, most racing games don't have much of those second two, but games like GT and Forza tend to have a lot of car models to store and considerably larger texture files etc

Still, all that said Nintendo have been pretty good with file sizes. 5GB is certainly a lot more convenient than the size of some other games i shall not mention ¬______¬

First off, Nintendo is just better than most. Secondly, I'm sure having textures/content that is based on 720p is far smaller than if it were 1080p.

No brainer; download all the way.

Benefits of getting physical copy: Can get scratched and become useless (if you're a careless slob who doesn't know how to take care of a game). The game exists independantly from the console meaning if the console breaks, if the HDD fails, the game is still able to be played. You get the security of having a physical back up and back ups are always a good idea. You get physical art work. You don't have to purchase huge external HDD's because you don't have to worry about storage. You don't have to deal with the reality that one day, Nintendo will shut down the servers (probably in just a few years) thus rendering any redownloading impossible should something go wrong.

Benefits of download: Ease of use, no sales tax, 10% back in eShop credits, won't take up shelf space, External HD ain't gonna fill itself

I fixed it for you. The issue is alot more complicated and blurry than you made it out to be originally.
