Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 is 4.9GB - Are you gonna get it digitally?

How will you purchase MK8?

I get that having a digital copy of the game could have many advantages over the retail one, but for me it comes down to being nostalgic I guess, I like having my shelf full of games. I'm gonna save that hard drive space for digital only games.

I'm pretty sure you still have to get an official repair to transfer games, unless they recently changed that policy.

And a Nintendo console breaking isn't fictional at all. I've personally never had a Nintendo console fail on me, but shit happens. You can never be too safe.

I guess I just don't live in fear like others. Plus Nintendo has already stated many times they are not done with improving their account system. They now have it on 3DS and have stated it will continue to grow including allowing you to log into other hardware. Its also not like WiiU will be their last home console and they sure won't ask WiiU owners to mail in WiiUs to transfer NNID accounts.

Worst case is you'll have the transfer system similar to DS/3DS or they'll do as stated and have a online type of device control system similar to iOS/Android, etc.

And...when Nintendo releases their next console in 2-3 years, and shut the servers down, what then? Are you ok with the idea that your games are only going to work for however long your HDD or console does? Because the moment something fails, your games are gone my friend. This isn't Apple or Steam we're talking about lol.

Digital version for me. I know I will NEVER sell it and I already have enough money in my e-shop account.

OR Nintendo will do as they said and allow you to log into different console... meaning you can move the games to NintendoNext and play in WiiU mode.

Nintendo keeps improving. They may be late, but they always improve. Before WiiU goes away we'll see the capability to log into more than one home console and shared digital content.

I'll get it digitally from the eShop, for the same reasons as the OP.

Except for the 10% back thing, as I don't have an ugly Premium, but rather a gloriously white dust-/smudge-/fingerprint-free Basic.

Why would you ever buy it digitally
so hell no
retail only for me

http://moongypsy.bandcamp.com/ ~Thank you Stefl1504 for the amazing sig~

Grudgingly digital copy.

I want to put games I'll play over and over on my WiiU digitally for convenience, but this is going to take FOREVER on university internet. I have an 8AM Fridays, too, so no sleep for me. :(

Digital, get the money back and yeah I have 2TB HD so I have the room for that and the free game.

There's just something about physical copies. Each box I put on the shelf feels like a trophy, especially when it has a physical manual. I completely understand why you'd get digital though. Not too much space, a game you'll want immediate access to, and why in God's name would you ever sell it? Also, that 10% eShop credit is very tempting...

But then if we all bought it digitally, this site wouldn't exist...so my silly sentimentality over having a physical object to hold is saving this site! I do wonder what will happen to this site when we all start buying digital. Once the potential consumer rights issues are hammered out and better ways to store, share, lend, and show off your games come around, I think everyone will switch to digital, and hopefully this site and other sales tracking services can figure out a way to track digital sales.

Retail from Amazon.
