In the UK we have had demo units of consoles in supermarkets for many years now.... its a different story that the staff dont have them running all the time.

Are you asking if a company has ever set up E3 demos in the store during E3, so that people could play the same thing as the press and thus form their own opinions? The answer is yes, by the way. Nintendo, last year.

Serious question: unless you're one of the relative handful of people who gets seats to the the conferences, what improvement is there between seeing a stream of a news conference and seeing a stream of a presentation which has the same news but is optimized for online viewers? Do you prefer awkward rambling speeches to fill in time, wasted transition periods where people are coming on and off the stage, and technical snafus? Or are you just one of those folks who needs a laugh track or other audience reaction to know how to feel about a show?

That's nice and all, but we gotta see what Sony and MS have in store. MS, of all companies, needs a big reveal.

Besides, I would be much more excited if Nintendo would make a conference with annouing their usual, high quality 1st party titles and some real 3rd party support. SSB4 is a great game and all, but talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.

Nintendos E3 was pitiful last year in my opinion, but I do appreciate the removal of all the business speak.

Hmm, I do feel you're a bit harsh here. 

 

Not talking for the fps guy, but not having it in the normal press conference format makes us lose those magic moments that happens sometimes. Those beautiful moments that rarely happens, but when they do, like the Twilight Princess reveal, it's awesome to watch. Other than that this style of presenting it is better, as you yourself explained rather perfectly. :D

They are doing that. It's called Nintendo Digital Event.

Not very interesting to me. I would much rather watch a presentation with a ton of games than stand in line to play 1 game for 2 minutes. Boring... I own a Wii U and intend on getting Smash Bros for it but no way in heck would I waste my time standing in line to play it. Now if it was Destiny or Dragon Age I might would consider it....
