Well they didn't ruin last year's E3 hands on event, not the one I went to anyway!

I'm of course assuming Nintendo's equivalent of a press conference, being their Digital Event thing, will be atleast decent! Afterall they've got plenty of games to talk about like Zelda U, Smash Bros., Monolith's X, Yoshi Yarn, SMTxFE, Bayonetta 2, Sonic Boom, Hyrule Warriors, and there has to be newly unveiled games as the 3DS currently has nothing but Smash post E3!

They lost last year. The Direct was a disappointment. This year may be better because the plaint field is even.

Let's not get things twisted though; they lost last year because their reveals were lame, not because the format was different. If last years Direct had Metroid instead of DK, a better SM3DW ad, a Zelda Wii U reveal, Star Fox, etc, nobody would have given a shit about them not having a conference. Oh, and the streaming sucked. What they seriously need to do it just release a video instead of streaming it live.

Two things though.

1. They are already renting out the NOKIA theatre for the Smash Tournament. They should air the Digital Event at the NOKIA theatre as well, so the press can all watch the event together. Then after the Digital Event, they can stay for the Smash Tournament.

2. They should release a demo for Smash on the Wii U during E3. People should be given the option to play Smash the way it's meant to be played if they have the Wii U: At home with friends. All they have to do is limit the amount of characters to 4 (Mario-Sonic-Mega Man-Villager/*Packman*) and only allow for battle on two stages. Battle Field and Final Destination. This way it is limited enough, but fun to play and people who already own a Wii U can convince their friends to play it this way.

He doesn't kno SSB is one of the most competitive games of all time lol.

If you thought last year was pitiuful, then I'm really curious to hear what Nintendo would have to do for you to deem it a good E3!

I admit the Twilight Princess reveal was something special, and that the potential for those goes away with a streamed video. Those moments are exceedingly rare, though. I'm more sad that the potential for disaster gets cut down this way: Riiiiiiidge Racer!, Miyamoto being unable to play Skyward Sword, Microsoft guy clapping by himself, Giant Enemy Crab, Duffy looking terrified at being at E3, Ravi Drums, and of course the entire Konami 2011 (Extreeeeeeeeeeeeeme!) would never happen without the magic of live conferences.

But overall, I'd say streaming a video is better for those of us who can't be there anyways.

No one said you can't do both! Assuming it's just like last year, the Digital Event will be on one day, then the Best Buy events will begin the next.

It will (should) be much better than last year. That said the advantage of directs are the removal of 90% business speeches! That would be nice for allof the big 3 :)

To me it sounds like they haven't got all that much to talk about this year, besides Smash, so they're just throwing their weight behind that. Avoidance is never the answer, and not having a conference again gives me a bad vibe. But who cares if Nintendo wants to dig a ditch for itself, let them.
