I personally thought that "winning" always came down to who has the biggest bombshell to announce. That said Smash bros is gonna be huge.

So Sony could show us dozens of games that appeal to you but that'd still "lose" E3? It's definitely something really cool Nintendo is doing with Smash but I still don't see how you can say they won already. Of course it's all opinion, but I believe you need to take all sides into account before you form one. That's all I'm saying, if you still feel that way after E3, kudos to Nintendo. |
I still felt that way after last year's E3! An event is simply more fun than watching trailers on a computer!
Whats with the best buy thing being so hyped?
Has a company never set up demo units in a store in the US before?
In the UK we have had demo units of consoles in supermarkets for many years now.... its a different story that the staff dont have them running all the time.
And when people say nintendo are not at e3... they dont mean they are not literally there, they mean why they wont be on stage in front of a big audience with the world watching and waiting to hear what they have in store for the next year or so. Yeah not everyone watches E3, but not everyone watches the super bowl either, but we all still hear about it one way or another even in countries where people dont give a damn about NFL, because thats the natural power of massive events and marketers take full advantage of them. But some smart person at nintendo thought it would be better not to have a conference at the biggest gaming event of the year where the worlds media are ready to spread their brand message, and go for the lesser stuff in which they will most likely be outmuscled by the competition too.
Last year was a lot of fun playing Mario Kart 8 and the other titles. Like the idea and would love other companies to follow suit.

IYO.
I'm still not convinced until I see what this "digital event" means.

It's about playing the live E3 demos without going to E3.
Sure they normally come weeks/months later (if at all), but not the same days of E3.

Actually yes, that would do it :)
Give it a Twilight Princess art direction and they have it 100% guaranteed!
