Forums - Sony - Guerrilla Games New PS4 IP to Possibly Have Microtransactions

They've never bothered me. I play plenty of games with them and I've never had to pay for it.

I suppose if it's pay to win, that's different. MT's in general though? I don't care in the slightest.

And I was hyped by the possibility of them making an fantasy RPG. Facepalm.

All games are going to have microtransactions soon enough.

I can only hope that they don't make the game "pay-to-win", especially with all the emphasis on social gaming experiences these days.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

I don't mind microtransactions so long as it's not pay to win.

But LOL @ GG getting a new IP and it's another shooter. Surely not. They fail at shooters.

Don't microtransactions just involve paying money to progress faster?
If so I don't see what the big deal is once content is still available as it normally would be and it's not more painstaking than usual to gain unlocks.

That is something people do not like, as it then boils your time down to a cash sum.  If you need spend 20 hour doing a specific thing in a gae and the reward is a fancy hat for you character then some people will think it is worth doing as they may be one of few people who spend the time and get that fancy hat.  Are they really going to bother unlocking that fancy hat though if people can just buy it for £1 instead?   Most won't, as the reward has been tarnished.

MTs need to make sure they

A. Do not turn player time into a cash sum.
B. Do not not give advantages over other players in any way.
C. Do not affect game design negatively.

The reason so many devs/publishers fail to uphold the above three is because without doing one of them they cannot push MTs and make them more attractive, so they do it and hopes the MTs spent by a few players will cover the loss of the player who was turned away by it.

You mentioned uncharted before and like you I guess I was one of those people that took the time to play the different game modes to unlock the special items like the custom guns(loved sully's sniper and chloe's m9)

But I can't honestly say it detracted from my gaming experience or made it hard for me to enjoy it but as I said I do think though that they need to put in some kind if distinction between the ways you obtain your gear/cars/whatever some kind of visual indication to show that a person put the time in like a badge of honour or something

This means almost nothing. Shadow Fall had micro-transactions most people have no problem just ignoring it if they don't care for the useless extras.

4 ≈ One

As long as it can be ignored then I don't care.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I will never understand why people complains about this when you can just ignore them as long as doesn't affect the game itself. And if it does, you must simply not buy it.

This is just something that Shu said about microtransactions.  I'm going to have to say, I trust Shu, and I don't think this is an issue.

Update: On his Twitter feed, President of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida defended microtransactions in Gran Turismo 6 by saying that "the game is just offering an alternative path to busy people" and to "read [the GT6] reviews when they come out."

"Microtransaction per se is not a bad thing," he went on to write. "How the game is designed around it could become a problem."

Someone should enlighten Yoshida about cheat codes.

It would be smarter to wait until they announce that goddamn thing before speculating about Microtansactions
