Huh, just what in the hell was ever more controversial at PS then the X1 debut and all the online drm stuff. Even RROD was bigger then any fubar at PS.

Sony convinced you guys that MP paywalls were awesome. Now microtransactions are a gamers paradise. Only at Sony.
FYI, PS3's launch was a bigger FUBAR then RROD. It costed Sony billions more then what RROD costed. Unless offcourse you mean the public perception angle.

If you purchased a PS4 for Guerrilla Games then I question it too.

Ehh it was MS that convinced people of that, now they succesfully launch a game from a major franchise like Forza with less then half the content of its predecessor give you a 80 dollar special ed with a few extras and even but give you a 50$ car pass to buy back some more content that should have been there from day one at the regualt 59.99 price.
Forza 5 a $130 game with half its predecessors content, only at MS.
PS3 launch vs RROD is debatable. But X1s debut was the most controversial anything as far as xbox PS go.

| UltimateUnknown said: Seriously screw microtransactions. I hate this kind of thing where the devs tell you that they're only including it as a way to unlock content by paying money. Worst of all, people are actually eating up this BS. Not only is it wrong for a full priced game, but the real issue is that over time they're going to start introducing ways such as making the grind unusually aggravating so that you're urged to make MTs. Just look at DLCs. They seemed like a good idea, allowing you to have expansions to your games, but soon enough so many devs started abusing it with day one dlc and on disc dlc. Basically locking stuff out of a game so that they can charge you later. |
Hear, hear.
@others: This isn't about Sony vs. Microsoft; it's about the consumer vs. the producer. And right now, all producers, Nintendo included, are finding new and creative ways of taking more money for less product. Maybe instead of drawing battle lines among ourselves and rooting for our favorite brands, we can unite against bad business practices, wherever they may be.

Nope. Guerrilla games wasnt my purchase decision for PS4. I purchased PS4 for the promise sony made and fullfilled in every generation. PS3 was late but they kept their promise. While all consoles were literally having a draught after 2010 PS3 kept me happy. I am thinking again because of all these recent bad news.

Don't know what perspective you have, but Live Gold was adopted out of necessity more then anything. That and microtransactions have always got a negative backlash online.Doing it first doesn't translate to gamers loving you for it.
But to Sony fans, they now LOVE MP paywalls. Microtransactions? Bring em on! Indie titles? Downplayed last gen but now are the future!
I am serious here, Sony has this squeaky clean image that if there is anything controversal that gamers don't like, Sony can and will make it mainstream popular. Seriously.

Unite by saying how bad it is online? Because that ain't doing anything.
What you have to do is prevent the suckers from buying this stuff. Boycotting it yourself only means you miss out on something you want to play. And msot gamers just buckle and buy the game regardless. Meanwhile those casual suckers keep paying for the model and the developer is convinced to keep doing it.
Unfortunately, gamers are their own worst enemy. They have very bad willpower.
