It'll be a game so big that it needs an installation disc. HD textures, an insanely big and detailed open world sandbox, HD audio... all of that uncompressed.

I'm guessing Forza 6 especially if it comes close to having as much content as Forza 4. It will probably be like Forza 3 and 4 where you can play the game without installing the second disc but if you want to access all the cars you have to install the second disc.

Well, Max Payne 3 had 35 GB of install size on PC. I think it didn't have any CGI, but different scenarios that used high resolution textures and non-repeating assets. |
Max Payne had a lot of CGI. Perhaps you couldn't see the difference between the pre-rendered movie clips and the real-time rendered game graphics, if you played it in 2D... they were very good implemented.
But play it with 3D vision and the constant switching between pre-rendered movie clips in 2D and stereoscopy gameplay gets a bit annoying.

MGS4 had about 8 hours worth of cut scenes. If you want to pre-render all of that in high quality 1080p, h.265 isn't going to fit it on 1 Blu-ray disc.
DTS HD-MA 7.1 runs at average 5mbps, blu-ray h.264 average 25mbps, h.265 can theoretically double efficiency for video, let's take average of 15mbps h.265 for good quality 60 fps RGB video. (remember blu-ray movies use chroma subsampled 12bpp at 24fps, raw bandwidth of 71 MBs vs 356 MBs for 1080p60 24bpp RGB)
Total 20 mbps, 50GB gives you room for 5.6 hours.
Raw video, you can fit about 143 seconds of 1080p60 RGB on a 50GB blu-ray disc. There are some lossless compression formats, but their compression ratio is at most 2.2 : 1 (compared to h.264 28:1) so you can at most get 5 minutes of lossless video.
I'm going to go with The Last Guardian. There can only be one reason why a game that is definitely not vaporware has taken such an extremely long time to develop. This is the reason.

Kojima Productions is mixing things up for Metal Gear Solid V. During a roundtable discussion, Hideo Kojima promised that fewer cutscenes will be included compared to its predecessor.
Im sure youre worried about if the cutscenes are as long as Metal Gear Solid 4. Since this time around were using an open world environment, (Metal Gear Solid V will have) less cutscenes [than before].
So, is this because of one disc limitation?

Made me lol. Don't forget each disc you have to peel off 10% from metacritic to put it in.
Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Doubt it. Most of the cutscenes in MGS4 are those long drawn out conversations, not pre-rendered, costs nothing but audio. I'm not sure what open world has to do with less cutscenes. I just grabbed the total length as an example that 1 blu-ray disc is not that big.
Although Titanfall already having 35GB of audio, maybe it does have to do with disc size...

That might have been true 5 years ago, but currently blu-ray production costs are only 10% more than pressing a DVD.
Ofcourse it's cheaper to have 1 disk and let you download the rest. And charge you extra for it! Oh wait, that already happens.
