i dont know if all the feedback S-E is getting about this matter is a good thing. LEts be honest guys, traditional turn-based RPG are outdated and ii think is kinda scary to see this amount of support for the "go back to your roots" arguments.

Well, maybe is just me

SCREW YOU ITS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, I definitely don't think turn based games are in the past. I don't always want games where I am racing to do everything. I like being able to sit back and plot my strategies in my own time

Just look at XCOM, not so much of a traditional turn based RPG, but still really successful, both critically and commercially.

But there's a reason I've played 50 hours of FFX HD since it came out and haven't even bought Lightning Returns

well, i finished Lightning returns a while ago, and right now im playing FFX hd. That doesnt mean nothing except that i like both games but thats irrelevant with my point. BTW, Xcom is one of those exceptions that i talked about in my earlier post in this thread, i mean, is turn based by election not by limitation.

I'll take a turn based RPG any day of the week over all these recent hack n' slash RPGs that have come out these last couple of years.

sometimes you just want to sit back and relax and step by step think on what comands you gonna make in you own time. perfect for that lazy sunday when you suffer from a hangover.

BTW Xenogears have one of the most fun battle system of all RPG's I've ever played

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Great news after Bravely Default's unexpected success. Square Enix should be taking note

I'm sure they'll port even more old games....

Here's the deal with battles. It's one of the few areas devs can be creative and mess around. Most of us JRPG fans are pretty open about it as long as it doesn't impede story progression early on while still offering exploits for advanced players to abuse.

By all means dick around with the combat system all you want, I ENJOY exploring new battle mechanics.

But that's not the problem with today's JRPGs. The problem is that the battle system IS the entire game all by itself. You can't just make the awesomest battle system in the world, throw in some QTEs and FMVs with a billy bad ass persona swooshing their hair at the camera with a stuck up snarky attitude, and then call it a JRPG.

Story and characters come first . If I finish the game and I'm not sad at the end that the characters aren't real, youre doing it wrong.

WTB having a beer with Cecil and coddling the hell out of Palom and Porom.

OK with me if they start with FFXII

But I don't see what Final Fantasy gains by relying on my reactions as well as my brains. To me it just makes it a different game to what I want (though I do love Kingdom Hearts)

Cosigning with this gif.

Is it that shocking though? FFX was considered a masterpiece anyways so a Remaster was guaranteed a million at least I think.

PSn - greencactaur
Nintendo Switch FC - SW - 5152 - 6393 - 5140 Please feel free to add me :)

Good. I'm just getting to the part where I play Blitzball for the first time. Been dreading that since I hated it so much back in 2001 but I'm gonna actually learn to play this time. Glad to see a new generation (or is it just guys from the old generation?) enjoying this classic. It's a bit more linear than I remember but I'm still enjoying it very much.

Makes me wonder if my limited edition with the artbook is actually.. Limited..
