dat Miku flop. Sad. I really want Vita to outsell 3DS just because Nintendo need to learn something

doubling it's sales in the next 40 weeks would still keep it quite behind wii u.

It would put it neck and neck at the same time period as the Wii U. pick a criteria and stick with it. Wii U will falter behnd the ps4 in japan

In any case, the chart should illustrate the points I was making to Soundwave in the other thread. Basically, there's nothing particulary worrisome with hardware sales for home consoles in Japan. Handhelds are another matter, but it can be argued most of the problems facing the 3DS and Vita are entirely due to their parent companies, but that's a subject for another thread and another day.

Thanks for the post and the chart.  Very interesting.

Thing is, we're already seeing a generation starting off at lower levels than we were getting at the end of a generation.  We've had the WiiU on the market for a year and a bit now, and has gained no traction.  Last generation systems are dropping off like flies - Wii is completely gone; PS3 is clinging on to relevance.

While there is still time for PS4 to see PS2 2000 -> 2001 -> 2002 esque growth (after all, it has just released on the market), these numbers really aren't encouraging.  PS2 didn't have much for its launch either and was sold on the promise of "this stuff is coming" - much like I'm sure PS4 in Japan will be selling on "Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts/Metal Gear is coming".  Except people aren't biting this time.

I'm expecting that we will see growth over the next few years, but nothing reaching any kind of heights we've seen before.

Nope, it would put it a lot behind wii u in the same period and the gap would be much bigger than it is now.

Wii U after 45 weeks in Japan: 1.09 million

PS4 after 45 weeks if it only doubles the sales it has up to now in that period: ~1 million

At least check your numbers before posting, if you did maybe you wouldn't be wrong all the time.

Wii U after january 5th, 2014: 1.55 million. it will need more than a million in the next year, starting now. and like I already said, the wii u will be increasing the gap in the meantime.

What? That is not even remotely what he said, he said in 40 weeks so overall 45 weeks after launch and I gave you the Wii U numbers at that time, so why do you just randomely give me a freaking number that has nothing to with what has been discussed? Just admit that you were wrong and stop spinning.

Fiscal year 2013 is the worst since 2000.

- 2013: 425.0 billion yen
- 2003: 450.1 billion yen
- 2004: 456.6 billion yen
- 2012: 459.7 billion yen

6 years of decline.

Damnit Japan, it's like you guys WANT every game to be on mobile.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
