That game isn't a system seller. Nintendo has to change it's image. The dk crowd isn't the crowd that 3rd parties look for. I'm not trying to be a jerk but what adult is going to buy a wiiu for tropical freeze?

I think the core audience for Tropical Freeze are adults... Those who grew up with the SNES DK games.

Wii U's problem is that only some adult Nintendo fans want it. Kids and casual gamers aren't interested anymore.

This is actually probably the truth. The actual demographic for this game, especially on a less popular platform like Wii U is probably hardcore DKC fans who grew up with the series.

I hope DKC: TF can eek out a respectable 750k LTD on Wii U. I'm not expecting big numbers, but I do think Nintendo will be able to port it to a future portable machine that will hopefully be more popular than Wii U and can't a second wave of sales for the game there.

Ok, I will add more anecdotal evidence, I ordered 10 copies of the game (including mine) to sell on a facebook group and they are gone already.

I guess at 24 I still have a lot of growing up to do.

Seriously tho, what's with that comment.

lmao, i find it funny for years. A game on Nintendo means its kiddy. I remember one time telling COD friends that said i played kiddie games (cuz of my wii) i bet them $20 (one accepted) that they couldn't beat one board witouut dying (NSMBWii) and then after he lost immediately (he did give me $20) he tried over 10 times still couldn't beat it lmao.  (i did give him a sky world stage but thats not the point)

So if these are kiddie games, im glad im immature

*dont get me started on pokemon, the anime gives it a kid image but pokemon competitive is one of the most hardcore gaming can get. Proof? Anybody new would need months to even think of touching a normal competitor :p

The Gamestop I got my copy at had all but one copy pre-ordered, which is the one I got. This was at noon. Also, the saleswoman was gushing about how cute the game was, which seems to indicate that this particular store was helping to promote the game beyond just the obligatory posters and demos.

The doomsayers have spoken too soon; North America sales should be quite decent. (Not making this estimate based solely on this thread, but also preorder numbers, which I believe are tracking above 3D World)

Weeeeell, they are, but the second week of 3D World, it was adjusted. So it's Pre-order numbers went from 140k to 90k.

launch numbers were adjusted, not pre orders. and there's no evidence things will repeat.

I'm almost sure it was both. If not, I have horrbile memory.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I highly doubt Nintendo is undershipping.

*cough* Fire Emblem Awakening

*COUGH* Xenoblade

Honestly those are bad examples.  Fire Emblem is a niche game for the USA, and Xenoblade was assumed to be one as well.  Donkey Kong is far from it.  If you want to convince it was undershipped, you need examples that make sense to compare.
