Well, I do kind of agree with you.   But I would say the Xbox One was more ready than the PS4.  Both seem a bit rushed.  And their biggest games have yet to hit.  For both many games were delayed.

I doubt they were surprised by the memory much.  But it would be interesting if anyone has the feed from the conference room at Microsoft where they watched the reveal.

Even the WiiU doesn't quite feel completely launched yet, but it's getting there. 

Seems like the perfect launch of recent might have been the Wii - you have Wii Sports to grab the casuals, and then Zelda: Twilight Princess to go those fans, and Wii Play for people wanting an extra controller.

What is the majority view on the looks of the two consoles eh? Which one looks too big and cheap and which one looks sleak and sexy? In any case, YOUR POINT IS MUTE because knowing what a console looks like is NOT a predicate for being prepared for the opposition AFTRER the opisition has already laid it's plans bare completely (that was 20Feb BTW).

It might help if you specified a criteria for "perfect launch". The Wii launch was OK for non-casuals, and the sales were stellar. So I'm assuming you're going by sales. In that case the most "perfect launch" of recent times is the PS4.

Consists here has little to do with reality?  Remember all those thread where the 'Xbox 360' was 'dead on arrival'  the 'PS3 would sell the most of the gen' (it's still in 3rd by the way), ‘PS3 will be a generation ahead of the Wii and Xbox’ and you know what?  None of that ever happened.  I’m sure I can get a Bieber fan to tell me his the greatest musical of all time, doesn’t make it true.

None of this has anything to do with the current gen. You're just using a strawman. I remember you saying that the XBO would win the launch because a ton of people canceling their PS4 preorders and switching over to XBO in order to play their "excellent" exclusives. That didn't happen either by the way.

ONE game got delayed. Driveclub, which needed more time in development. And the highest rated console exclusive between the PS4 and XBO is a PS4 exclusive. Resogun is rated better than any exclusive on XBO. Interesting. Reviews wise the PS4 is winning this battle. And it's sold MUCH better than the XBO. Have you seen the latest NPD results? PS4 beat XBO 2:1 in America last month, I remind you that Microsoft dominated the US last gen. They've lost the UK and and the US in one fell swoop and they're getting absolutely slaughtered in the rest of Europe.

This isn't a close fight, XBO is getting destroyed and is nearing WiiU level of sales. Check the front page if you don't believe me, numbers are all there. You can't argue against numbers. Being in more European markets isn't going to help XBO considering it's a western product and more expensive. Microsoft has tailor made the XBO for the US by focusing on Sports and Kinect and it payed off pitifully. Europe is ignoring the product completely and the US has switched over to PS4. 

Do you really think you can get Outlast or Resogun on your phone? Really? That argument makes no sense. Even if an indie is on mobile that doesn't mean it's going to hurt the console sales. Look at Minecraft, it's on phones yet it sold over 10m on consoles. I'm not sure what your point is but PS4 has major exclusives coming this year with Infamous, Driveclub, The Witness, The Order 1886, MLB 14, Shadow of the Beast, and possibly a new Uncharted. I don't think you can get any of these games on your phone.

PS4 has no games? Really? Then why is it selling so well? If it was all about the price advantage than the WiiU would be winning this gen. More people are interested in playing Killzone then they are Ryse. If the games are in low demand then why are preorders so high for Infamous? Just because you prefer XBO games does mean everyone in the world shares your opinion. Clearly more people think the PS4 has the stronger lineup and will continue to get better games. Once again, the sales numbers prove my point. You can't dispute the numbers.

Yeah. PS4 is selling well because of the hype. If it was because of games, Wii U would be dominating at this point, followed by Xbox One, followed by PS4. Xbox One has a better library right now, since PS4's good games aren't out yet.

Do you certainly believe that it had to do only with the hype and not games? So you imply the Wii U and the XO were not hyped for at all.

What about the price for the hardware specs? 

Now if you were to discuss about library(that also includes PC ported titles along with indies with exclusives), PS4 has a greater one.

So it's hype, price and a greater library combined.

Let me just state my OPINION here: I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but I believe your statements are backed by so little substance and proper consideration that if you should be embarrassed.

OH COME ON!


The PS4 comes into this gen with a reputation of having the most varied and consistently delivering games catalogue since it is part of the PS family. The Wii U had HOW MANY GAMES in it's first year? The Xbox One has a better library? Debateable, but IT'S $100 MORE expensive and doesn't come across as a high-tech gaming device like the PS4.


Your attempt to boil this whole thing down to "hype" and then throw in the "games argument" there because AT THIS POINT IN TIME your favourite console has a nice library is simply because you want your agenda to gain momentum.


Let me ask you - and answer honestly - which console will have the biggest and most varied library in 3 or 4 years? Nintendo will have it's AAA games as usual, but the plethora of deep JRPG's, 1st party offerings of ND,SM etc. etc. and cutting edge 3rd party games will not be there.

I'm simply stating these things cause I don't like your comment. At all.

PS4 is selling well because it´s cheaper and is in many more markets and it was promoted as the "hardcore gamer redeameer".

When you touch a PS4 and use it for a while you fell that it´s also a incompleted product with a old stile GUI and philosophy. It´s powerfull and play games, but has nothing a mid range PC couldn´t do.

And about the games?

Well, Drive Club was shown one year ago, alonside with Deap Dawn, Infamous SS and Killzone SF, from those games only Killzone and Infamous made the launch window.

And basically no E3 2013 anouncement is any closer than a 2014 Q4 release.

Wouldn´t that make you wonder why a "half finished hard to develop on" Xbox was able to have 4 major AAA exclusives in its launch window? Also, basicaly every single multiplat game?

If people think that either the XB1 or the PS4 are selling based on the games, they are crazy!

They are selling on the HYPE and the Holidays.

The first real game to come out for either console is Titanfall. Whether or not it is super successful or not will be seen.

Only a few weeks after will be Infamous SS. It will sell extremely well, as there are a lot more PS4's out and there are no AAA games for the PS4. The PS4 owners are starving at this point. Hell, I am not overly interested in Titanfall, but I will buy it because I am starving as an XB1 owner.

I didn't buy a console at launch for games, but the future potential of games. But, I would have waited to buy any system if it weren't for the XB1's other features. I am more than impressed with them and wanted them now. That is why I will buy the PS4 next year. I can enjoy all of the games just the same...

It wasn't but come on.

It was 8 years since the 360, it seems like Microsoft was just sitting on their hands or they wanted to take a peak at Sony's specs again like they did with the cell an IBM.It also looks like they greatly over estimated how much people wanted Kinect and motion controls, but that's a story for another day.

The best laid plans of mice and men! were all geniuses after the fact. Kinect needs to be an add on period and xbox1 needs to be $50.00 less then PS4 to compete. Everything else is epic fail!

 

I have both love both but multiplats that run better on one system then the other will get the PS4 nod this gen.

You are aware that subjective opinion has no place masquerading as fact. The main objective feature of the ps4's gui that is a step backwards is the lack of custom themes, which is a simple change in hardware.

Furthermore, I could replace every mention of ps4 for xb1 and it would still hold, except for the fact it being in more markets and promoted as the gaming centric console.
