yes they have. Wii Party U, Wii Fit U, NSMBWii U and Luigi, Nintendoland, Mario&SOnic, Lego, Rabbids. These are follow ups to some of the biggest series on WIi. Only thing that they havent done is Wii SPorts, so how havent they tried yet?

Square kinda does that anytime they bring up the possibility of a FFVII remake, and up until recently they were doing just that with both KH3 and FF Versus XIII (now FFXV) which both finally got official announcements last year.

This is a magazine talking, not Nintendo themselves. And they haven't refused to make either of them. They just don't know what to do with either series right now. Miyamoto made a statement even that he has no idea where F-Zero could go from here, but is glad to hear people are interested. Give him some time to think of something.
Animal Crossing seems possible, it's one of the big titles that makes it to every system that the Wii U doesn't have yet, and they already have that Animal Crossing Plaza thing on the Wii U, so they're probably thinking about it. Might not do it this year though, no need to kill the momentum for the 3DS game. Metroid seems really likely, since they hint at it now and then, like Reggie's Samus pin at the VGX awards. I think it's quite possible it might be an early announcement of the new Miyamoto IP though. They'll want to announce it and build hype away from E3 so their new IP doesn't have any competition for attention, and then when they've got people looking at it and excited, then there will be another big reveal of it at E3 as well.

I really hope it's not Animal Crossing, as I never liked the series, but I expect that's what it is, so if it happens, I told you so.
