Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Yes Yes Yes. Oh MY GOD YES! Project Spark JRPG! This is AMAZING!

Reminds me of RPG Maker. Amazing possibilities. However, be lucky to get even a few actual quality games. Making a JRPG on this scale would be a full time job for a small group of gamers to make. Hard to expect that of people.

Still, be happy if it does turn out as love my JRPGs.

speaking as a little big planet fan, there will be a couple of really cool user generated stuff and millions upon millions of crap. to be successful it will need:

A) a strong, professionally built, story mode.
B) a strong set of filters to remove the shit.

LBP is good on A and so-so on B. it probably won't do any better than LBP but, for a guy like me who loves legos more for the building than then final product, it is cool stuff.

2 major differences.

Project Spark is open to PC also. Where PC can make Xbox One PS games.

PS is FREE. LBP wasnt.

IMO this is gonna be insane in 7 years. motion Capture thhrough Kinect for characters and voice overs.

neither of which change that fact that unexperience, non-professionals make things that feel like they were made by unexperienced, non-professionals.   generally buggy. typically not fun.  there will be gems but there is a massive amount of shit to wade through to find them.

..plus there are jerks.  the number of levels that had you enter a level right above an instant kill (spikes, fire, whatever) was too many.   you know that isn't inexperience,.. that's people being assholes.  that might have been only like 10% of the levels but when 10% of the levels you start are complete utter trash it's not long before the entire experience feels like complete utter trash.

i know you like to hype the hell of of shit but trust me,. you should temper your expectations.  the weak link is not what the game developers are creating, it's the people interfacing with it.  there is no question in my mind that PS will fall prey to all the same shortcomings as LBP which is a community of amateurs.

Selnor you get way too excited over these sorts of things. Do you really think you're going to get thousands of incredible JRPGs far better than anything else in the genre? I remember people saying LBP was going to redefine the platformer genre, it didn't.

And by the way, there are plenty of great JRPGs out there. Stop playing Square Enix garbage and go a bit more obscure. You'll be thankful.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

The video is so terrible. I have tried to watch it twice now, but those commenter just keep wasting time on useless details.
From the sections i forced myself to watch, it was very underwhelming. The level and fighting showcased were very simplistic and boring. I wouldnt want to play that game, im positively sure i would get bored really fast.

I'm looking forward to the penis levels

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Finally JRPGs can go back to when they were good! FF7 remakes, Completely new ideas, hundreds of new JRPG's by anyone.

This is the product of the generation. 4 years in the making. This is simply a JRPGs best wet dream ever. The  endless possibilities.

February is nearly here.

I hope you are just as excited for the new Media Molecule Project :)

FF7 was the beginning of the decline of Square. That game is way overhyped by the mainstream masses who never experienced a JRPG.

Give me FF IV or VI or Chrono Trigger or Xenogears but make it look and run like Ni no Kuni.

Games gonna be huge. Wonder how the monetization works.....

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

you're getting ahead of yourself, what's going to happen is a million worthless levels a couple decent ones and clone after clone of other games that are frequently torn down by moderation, just like what happens in LBP, the only difference here being Microsoft's notoriously heavy hand will be dealing out bans for anything remotely copyright infringing rather than simply deleting published levels.

With limited resources available and limited interface options, even the better published creations will get rather same-y after a while too.

Great concept, but a console really doesn't have the tool set for a proper, fully user created world, just various configurations of the same materials, objects, ui's and effects, sure its usable on PC too but I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt Microsoft would allow user created art assets to be published in any form on their console (hello, porn land, hello lemonparty level, etc).

Oh not literally saying remake things, just games of that quality in modern presentation.

FF7 was really not very good. It was a disappointment following after VI.
