MKDD didn't save the (already very cheap) GC, MK8 and a pricecut won't save the Wii U.

I hate when people try to argue this. Mario Kart wasn't as big when Double Dash came out as it is now. Double Dash didn't have the kind of huge predicesser that Mario Kart 8 has. That's like saying GTA VI won't move consoles because GTA II wasn't a console pushing blockbuster. That's retarded.

And that's not me saying that Mario Kart 8 will save the Wii U. That's me saying that that's a shit reason to argue against it.

Because Mario Kart was bigger back  in 2003 than it is now. Oh wait it wasn't.

Software sells hardware. Hardware sells software as well.

The Wii U is pathetic in sales compared to the Wii and 3DS. MK owes a lot to becoming big because those two are big, and the other two owe it also - but while the Wii and 3DS would do fine without MK, MK will do bad without big userbases.

Response above this one. Like the other two that didn't read a previous reply, just said HURR DURR MK GOT BIGGER DURR.

The problem withe a large price cut is that nintendo are still selling wii u with little to no profit. AND they posted a loss this year. A price cut would likely see them posting a loss next year too. Not toention there is no guarantee of the wii u getting enough sales to make nintendo or their investors happy. Question is do they keep price same but with lower sales and higher profitability OR go withprice cut with higher sales but loss.

Why don't people think Smash should be the last chance? That thing sells alot every generation

Because selling a lot of software and selling consoles are different. Mario Kart pushes much more hardware that Smash does. What I mean is, a lot more people who would not buy a Nintendo console otherwise would buy it for Mario Kart than for Super Smash Bros. Mario Kart is the more acessable game. It's go-karts with Mario. Easy.

Yeah, because the 3DS  was selling gangbusters before 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.
     Edit: HURR DURR

It was already doing much better than the Wii U. And it got much more support of all kinds before (and after) those two.

That's not true at all. The momentum for the 3DS didn't really start until they released Mario Kart 7. That was what saved the 3DS. That, Mario 3D Land, and a price cut. Together. The 3DS would not have done "fine" without Mario Kart.

Yes, it would.

And the price cut was done MONTHS before MK7. Refer to the data even here to see how much difference just that made.
