Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo just needs to go third party on consoles only

Highly unlikely. Besides Wii U, Nintendo have made profits on obscure hardware. If anything, Sony should start developing games for Nintendo handhelds because they might actually have some respectable sales for once.

Why not come to an agreeement whereby they work on consoles and handhelds together? Since one seems to be very good at doing one and weak in the other?

It's time to put aside tired old ideas that Sony is the enemy all the time, Nintendo should be looking at new paradigms.

That doesn't mean third party per se, but is there room for a partnership here where both companies have input and indepedence? I think there could be a window of oppurtunity here.

Sony is not the enemy any more IMO, the rise of smartphones and tablet gaming is the main enemy, the collapse of the Japanese gaming market is the enemy ... these are things where Sony and Nintendo's interests allign.

As someone who purchases both of their consoles, I would love to see that happen, as long as there was a 50/50 creative control. We'll never see it though and again as stated, Nintendo can sell an obscure amount of consoles in a generation becasue their software eventually sells well, whereas Sony makes larger investments in hardware with lower first party sales for the most part (especially on handheld).

I believe the smartphone/tablet gaming crash is coming in the next few years, so while they may be the enemy now, their grip will loosen soon enough.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I don't think a smartphone crash is happening ... it's simply a device that's central to a person's life now, it will never end, the marketscape for who's the dominant phone provider might change, but that's about it.

That genie is already out of the bottle and he's never going back in.

My friends joke about it now, but we really don't know how we used to organize going without cell phones in the past.

Its franchises are losng their popularity.
Maybe they could launch demos of their games to PS4...

Here is the thing though......look at every third party japanese developer and tell me which one is in a better situation than Nintendo.

I'll wait.

No, they should retain their hardware but this "overclocked last gen hardware with unique controller" nonsense has to end. At least have Half the power of the competition, have a well thought out conventional controller. For pete's sake get REAL third party support, like a of Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (a non sucky one please). Launch with Mario or Zelda out the gate. Do online right, make third partys have their own storefronts online if need be. Change your image, no blood needed. More Link and Samus less Mario and DK in the west at least. Unified achievements wont kill you Nintendo, damn. Start innovating. Stop playing NICE.

I don't get your post. Here's how it flows:

"Stop innovating. Copy. For real, copy. Do the same old, same old. Copy, bend over if you have to. Change image. More of the same old, same old. Copy, god damnit. Start innovating. Stop being unique."

I doubt people understand the ironic nature of their posts. With some topics, it is just rinse and repeat comments. That Jimbo post in Nintendo is NOT important thread... Hard to understand if it is funny or sad. I guess both.

PlayStation already went 3rd party.

they starting with TVs and also going on all SmartPhones & Tablets.

I hate to tell you the truth, but there will be NO PS5 nor Xbox TWO.

after 2023, the PS & Xbox games will also come to Nintendo's future 3D Handheld, and if they still have Home Consoles, then Nintendo's newest Home Console will also get PS & Xbox games.

That's reality.

>_>

In summary you dont need inferior hardware, radically new controllers that get dropped after one generation and zero third party support to be "unique". It wouldnt hurt to have a reasonably powerful, well executed,  conventional console with compelling games, good online and extra features either.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Why do all that work when you can try to win the controller gimmick lottery though, lol.
