To be honest I think the PS4/XB1 are basically a different market entirely.
I don't think there are many people who are really interested in what the PS4/X1 offer who are going to jump ship and choose a Wii U instead regardless of price.
The person who wants a PS4/X1 is looking for a system that has all the major future third party games (the Destinys, future GTAs, etc.) and is a hardware upgrade over the PS3/360 that they already own, the Wii U doesn't satisfy those needs at any price point.
Wii U's competetion is probably more effectively the PS3/360, so there it would help get more competetive is selling to kids for example, but they PS3/360 are also cheap and have the Wii U beat pretty soundly with hundreds of games already available, many of which are discounted to $20-$30 a pop. That's still a problem.
