Forums - Gaming - Why so many Wii U haters???

Their problem is, the Wii U is targeting the kind of buyers who want to pay $250/$199 for a console. That's why Kart will only really have its full effect once it is joined by a price drop.

And Wii U at least has not dropped back to its abysmal Q2-Q3 2013 levels, nor should it in the foreseeable future.

Buddy i got my wiiU for 249.99

There even was a 219.99 bundle, the problem is WiiU has no waggle hype fad driving it sales.  And it has nothing to show people why they should buy it whats so great about it.

Now a Mario Kart 219.99 migth sale, but im not even sure about that.

doesnt matter if it was jan 2008 or 2012, fact is NOW we can see where those PS2 people went. PS3 and 360 were expensive. WIi U isnt even close by a long shot so again where are these Wii people? cause the price is not keeping them away if you think that you are fooling yourself.

Im not putting anything on you i want info, it will do considerably better? whats considerably better? give me numbers. cause you and I might have a difference of what considerably means. I dont want you looking for more excuses when the system doesnt move that much when these games released, like you were doing for Rayman, Pikmin, Sonic, 3d world...and whatever game you thought would help WIi U

It does matter if it's 2008 or 2012, because adoption takes time. Wii U has barely been out a year. $299 is outside the casual and lower income gamer's buying range.

And I was right about Pikmin 3 and 3D World boosting sales. I never said Rayman or Sonic would have a big impact.

but systems have been released at MUCH higher prices and have done much better than what Wii U has been doing. So how do you explain that? price cant be that much of a factor, if PS3 360 xbox1 PS4 are more expensive and have done way better. The only logical conclusion is people really dont want Wii U no matter the price.

We must have a different definition of boost, I dont consider a small up tick and sales followed by the system dropping back to what it was doing prior anything significant, but you know what you gotta take it how you can get it I guess. I dont think 3d world did much, i would give most credit to the holidays and ill stick by that considering that WIi U dropped back down to sub 150k right after the holidays

pretty sure Ninty themselves said they were trying to target core and more casual gamers. But if what you think is true then Ninty is even more foolish than people thought, cause a console of that price was never going to sell to that market. And you are assuming they are going to drop to 199? then they wouldnt make money on the system then.

if it doesnt do what he thinks it will do, i wonder what he will say then, because even the most supportive Ninty fans have kinda thrown in the towel at this point.

So much talk for an obvious reason: people hate WiiU because they´re fanboys of other brands, and VgChartz is plaged with fanboys.

Now, now, the reason why the console is not selling has nothing to do with those kind of people/attitude.

Actually Nintendo failed in their marketing campaign to make the product interesting for consumers, even for some of its fans. WiiU is a nice console, overall word-of-mouth is highly positive, but they didn´t market it well, they choosed a weird name, they did not made it known with a good advertsiment campaign in 2013, and now they just can´t compete with PS4 and Xbox1 hype and games.

So everyone who dislikes the WiiU is a fanboy? That's an incredibly shortsighted way to look at things. I don't like the WiiU but that doesn't mean I'm a Nintendo hater. I own a 3DS, Wii, and some of my favorite games are from Nintendo. I don't like the the gamepad, lineup, or the features. The console simple doesn't interest me.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

was the PS3 ever tracking below GC? cause if it wasnt those people that were calling it the next GC was flat out wrong, but i do see your point. Personally I dont have that much faith in the Wii U that I did in PS3 when it was in a similar situation. Thats just my opinion, i could be wrong.

Yep. The PS3 didn't pass the GC in launch-aligned LTD sales in either region until sometime in 2009, as shown here:

Of course, the "PS3 is the next GameCube" claims weren't the only predictions made early in the seventh generation that were way off the mark. In 2008 the IDC thought the PS3 would pass the Wii in LTD sales in 2011 (basically, the opposite of "PS3 is doomed!") and that the 360 would fizzle out and sell only 40 million units. Of course, the PS3's sales grew enough to disprove the doomsayers but not enough to confirm those who though Sony would have already won by now, while the 360 had a solid rebound in Europe in 2008 and in America in 2010 after flat annual sales in those regions. Point being, when you're this early in a generation, it's too early to call, and you can't say "Doom!" based on a single bad year. Sales can often do very unpredictable things. We can reasonably infer that the Wii U will most likely place a distant third this go around, but anything more specific is just guess work. We don't know if it'll sell 20, 30, or 40 million.

I'm guessing theres a reason you split the numbers into JP and US and pretended europe didnt exist other than your mentioning of just japan and the US, could you be a doll and post the EU and wodlwide graphs too?

It will reach $199 eventually. Manufacturing costs reduce with time.

At that price, who wouldn't buy it? Obviously at that price it is a profit loss and high sales won't be enough. Imagine if Sony sold the PS4 at $300. Do you think that they can make profits at a loss like that?

And I bought Wii U for $400AUD. But we don't represent the mass market. They don't want to spend that much.
