Forums - Sales - Why come no one is seeing the 2D screenings of today's 3D Movies? (i.e. Gravity & 47 Ronin)

I can't help but notice that not that many people pay to see 2D screenings for these movies, like 47 Ronin & Gravity.

So why are people losing interest in the higher resolutions 2D screenings offer?

Is it because 3D Movies cost the same as 2D movies, excluding certain Cinemas like greedy AMC.

I guess people like the D.
And for the same price they get a whole one more :)

If I have the choice I would much rather see a movie in 3D over 2D. 3D is more immersive, entertain and stimulating. If not 3D I can just say home and enjoy my big screen. I waited to see "Dial M for Murder' until I could see it on the big scree in 3D. And yes, Alfred Hitchcock did make a 3D movie!

Now, unless it's DLP projected. Then it's just crap, and I would rather stay home. 2D or 3D DLP is just an awful way to show a movie. Sadly, many cinemas are the cheap bad DLP, and it's a reason I rarely go to the cinema anymore.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

A lot of theatres push for 3D versions of movies. Where I'm from, most theatres don't even offer the 2D version of films if there's a 3D one. What's worse is that they charge more for 3D films than for those in 2D.

I can't stand 3D so if there's the option of 2D I'll always take it. I actually deliberately didn't go see Thor 1 because my local cinema didn't show the 2D version.

I'm still hoping 3D is a passing fad. But I also know that there are a lot of people who think this modern 3D is the best thing to happen to movies since sound.

i cant speak for everyone but around me alot of the bigger movies arent in 2d in my theatres or they have wierd time slots for 2d, alot of my cinemas after Avatar invested heavily in 3d and are trying to force you to watch the 3d version by have the 2d version in the smaller theatres or at wierd ass times like 11am or 1am.

I will go out of my way to see the 2D versions. Hate 3D.

Can you at least watch "The Great Gatsby" in its original 3D format?

Thats all I ask of out of anyone who hates 3D.

And what do you think of 3D Sound (Surround Sound) ?

Actually they charge the same for 3D as 2D, since December 2013 or earlier in 2013. Excluding some cinemas like AMC, which still charge an additional $4.

December 2012 I had paid $6.50¢ for 3D XTREME (IMAX) 96 refresh rate for Hoobit 1, but December 2013 I had paid $6.00¢ for the exact samething for Hobbit 2.

I'm paying 50¢ less, which cost me the same as 2D XTREME (IMAX imitation).

I only watch 3D for animation film. I'm far from being the only one here, so maybe it's just in your country ?

BTW here we have to pay 2 more euros to see the movie in 3D
