Forums - Sales - Why come no one is seeing the 2D screenings of today's 3D Movies? (i.e. Gravity & 47 Ronin)

I try to see all my movies in 2D, 3D movies give me eye strain and headaches, overall I don't find it a pleasant experience.

I can't stand 3D so if there's the option of 2D I'll always take it. I actually deliberately didn't go see Thor 1 because my local cinema didn't show the 2D version.

I'm still hoping 3D is a passing fad. But I also know that there are a lot of people who think this modern 3D is the best thing to happen to movies since sound.

Can you at least watch "The Great Gatsby in 3D?

Thats all I ask of people who hate 3D. Then you can go hate away.

EDIT:

By the best thing since sound, do you mean Surround Sound (3D Sound), LOL.

I like how only on forums do I see this discussion on hating 3D. While I stand in line at my local cinemas, people are literally falling over one another for 3D seats.
I, personally, prefer 3D cu 2D at this point. Sure, some films don't have to be in 3D...I won't watch a comedy in 3D, a drama or whatever. But films with pure spectacle, those I prefer with glasses on.

I only watch 3D for animation film. I'm far from being the only one here, so maybe it's just in your country ?

BTW here we have to pay 2 more euros to see the movie in 3D

China has been making lots of Sci-fI action 3D Movies, and Japanese & Australians love 3D too.

Here's a link of 2014 3D Movies: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=173039

Trailers are in the 4th OP.

So you really haven't seen these movies (look below) in 3D?

The Great Gatsby

Pacific Rim

Star Trek Into Darkness

The Wolverine

R.I.P.D.

Gravity

The Amazing Spider-Man

Dial M for Murder

House of Wax (1950's)

I could go on & on, so I just stop now before I end up listing over 200 films.

Same here.

Some dramas or whatever, actually do make great 3D movies, like Great Gatsby & Upside Down. I'm looking forward to "Nurse 3D".

I would like to see some comedy movies in 3D, like "21 Jump Street" & "A Haunted House" (I'll have to convert).

Far too late for that, it came and went from theatres here before I could blink, so I watched it on Blu-ray. Ain't no way I'm gonna go find a 3D TV anywhere to watch it in 3D on a TV. I've seen movies in 3D that people say have amazing 3D and it does nothing for me.

Most of the time I don't notice the 3D effects because I'm actually paying atention to what's actually going on, not oggling at the visuals. And then when something 3Dish happens it jars me and takes me out of my immersion, so the 3D actually reduces my immersion into a movie, which is not good. I wanted to like 3D, but I don't.

And they bloody charge extra for the 3D sessions, as if they don't charge enough for movies already! I remember back in the day when a movie used to cost 50c, 3200% inflation since when I was a kid. Back in my parents' day movies used to cost 10c, so between their generation and mine it was only a 500% inflation.

Did you seen any 3D Movies of 2013?

Gravity is the best movie to see in 3D next to Avatar. Just to see the depth and scale of space is amazing. Even if it is fake.

A lot of theatres push for 3D versions of movies. Where I'm from, most theatres don't even offer the 2D version of films if there's a 3D one. What's worse is that they charge more for 3D films than for those in 2D.

Actually they charge the same for 3D as 2D, since December 2013 or earlier in 2013. Excluding some cinemas like AMC, which still charge an additional $4.

December 2012 I had paid $6.50¢ for 3D XTREME (IMAX) 96 refresh rate for Hoobit 1, but December 2013 I had paid $6.00¢ for the exact samething for Hobbit 2.

I'm paying 50¢ less, which cost me the same as 2D XTREME (IMAX imitation).

Actually, it depends where you're from. And, I'm not from the United States.

Thank you? ¬_¬

I haven't seen it Hobbit yet but when I do, it's going to be in 2D. I prefer not to see non-animated films in 2D. The glasses just change what you are viewing even if the 3D could be amazing.

Hmm, pie.
