Sweet now I have no need to buy a playstation thanks sony

Relax, Sony will get his money anyway

BUT I WONT FIND MANY PPL TO PLAY WITH ONLINE CUZ AINT NOBODY GONNA PLAY ON FAKKING BRAVIA CUZ THEY BE SO HANDICAPPED IF IT EVEN WORKS

I will play with you....I buy Sony electronics exclusively for like 6 years now, so I can get the next PlayStation anyway, right?

Really though, I just hope three things:
1)Let the MP be available and work cross platform so that every game I love gets a boost in community (KZ2/TLOU/UC3 and so on)
2)Let the share function of the PS4 work cause man I need that
3)Dear god don't charge too much from it, but they probably will anyway. I can't afford 2 PS+ basically and chances are Gaikai will be even more expensive.

This fixes the lack of backward compatibility with PS4.

Didn't Kaz made fun of the cloud to announce...a cloud service?

Anyway I'm with eFKac on this one, but it depends on how many games are available on this service. Why would I ever buy more than 1 device when I can just buy 1 and play all games in there? I honestly don't understand this. Depending on how they manage this it could potentially hurt some hardware sells.

Edit: is it just to play old games?  well in that case this doesn't matter.

It's basically BC.

The two main announcements today are all to push sony hardware.

That is the only reason for this.

Now, the question is.  Is it enough to pursuade the buying public to buy a sony tv, a vaio or a tablet.

THAT is what this is about.  This is the end game of what sony has been trying to do for the last 5 years.

if they succeed and people start buying sony hardware to get to this content then sony is back

if they fail... they are fucked.  Its really that simple.

And so far they have been able to influence the customers albeit the gamers in a major way. Basically everything ought to be done to push hardware just like how MS is doing in US. Current numbers of the consoles in Europe speak for themselves. Consistency is expected to keep up with this service.

The only problem I saw with Sony in the last 5 years was their pricing strategy for most electronics with the exception of gaming division.

This is great, i can't wait to play PS3 games on my PS3

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

In that case I will just a buy a tablet to play PS games.

For me is ok really because I'm not that interested in Sony games, but Sony fans should be crying because this would mean Sony will technically be a 3rd party company by next gen, this of course assuming that I can play PS4, PS5 or whatever games on a tablet or PC. But I'm probably getting ahead of myself.

third party?  not really.  they'd be more like steam,. a service platform owner instead of a hardware platform owner.  xbox will go this route too i'm sure of it, in a lot of ways MS is further along than sony already.

Yes 3rd party was the wrong word to choose. I didn't thought about it but you are right, it will basically be like Steam. Good for people who like Sony software, but not that great for those who like their hardware.

think of it like this...

..you know how MS has been bragging that their "cloud" lets you play from anyone's xbone as if it was yours (just download the game).   well, this could allow me to go to my mother-in-laws house and play my games.  she doesn't have a ps4 (or any playstation product) but she has a smart TV and a sony bluray player.  so now i'm a gamer anywhere i go not just the couple of friends i have with a playstation.

..when you can break the hardware dependance then (like on PC) there is no "generation".   that means no more worring about forward/backward compatibility.  no more having sony's userbase reset to 0 every generation.  no more waiting 7 years for an upgrade to technical capabilities.

..hardware that is cheap.   it's like a chromecast vs. windows laptop mentality.   you can build a device that connects to the internet for less than $50.   waaaay cheaper than the $400 for a cutting edge games device.

..more focus on innovative inputs (maybe,. this is a bit of a leap).   but if the "console" is super cheap you have more budet for other thing.  imagine if xbox one was $200 with kinect 2.0 ($150 for kinect, $50 bucks for the online streaming box).   "next gen" could be nothing more than a cool peripherial.

obviously there are downsides as well but i really think this is the way sony/MS is going and i really thing customers will follow them into this vision.

Around the Network

Hopefully this comes to the UK soon. If the US infrastructure can handle it, so can the UK's. I think this has more to do with the lack of Gaikai servers in UK/Europe than Internet speed.

Well, let's hope it works well. After reading DF about how well remote play works in a local network I somehow doubt this will work without major hits...

...In addition to PlayStation platforms, most 2014 US models of Sony’s BRAVIA TV lineup will support PS Now. Eventually the service will expand beyond PlayStation platforms and Sony devices, allowing you to stream PlayStation games across a broad range of Internet-connected devices...

From the press release. Aaand this whole post was wrong.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Eventually the service will expand beyond PlayStation platforms and Sony devices

This is the most interesting part of the announcement.
Non-Sony devices will get this service.
I understand why.
You wont be able to buy ps4 games on your samsung device, but why not ps3 games?
The people this is aimed at are either paying to play these games on their samsung tablet or they wont play them at all. That are the people sony is aiming.
Gamers will go for the ps4 and the newest games.
And this way sony might lure non-gamers in to the ps4 and other devices of themselfs, if non-sony consumers are enjoying their sony software service on non-sony devices.

This might be a smart move indeed.
Sony tries to use something they have that their competition like samsung, apple, panasonic and others dont have in this extend: software, not only games but movies and music too.
