BTW using the announces and the data from UK, France, Australia, Spain... Xbone didn't reach 2 million... PS4 did reach 2.1 million... funny... the 13 countries for Xbone makes even hard to believe in the 2 million because for that they need to be sold 300k or more in Brasil or any other LA countrie.

It wouldn't be the first time MS have released 'shipped' numbers and let the media reprt it as 'sold'. With plenty of X1s still in stock at retailers around the world, I'd say it's pretty obvious that MS are doing it again.

| GribbleGrunger said: I find the restocking argument frustrating. Yes, Sony can only sell as many consoles as they make, but production already started in Sep, so they would have already got 1 million units ready for the American release. We know that they can produce 1 million (perhaps more) a month, so taking the pre-stock into consideration, that would be 4 million by years end: Sep > October > November > December. I'm guessing 3.5 - 3.7 million by years end. This site is undertracking the PS4 by at least 250,000 - 300,000. |
Do you belive the PS4 will continue to sell 1.5-2mi a month next year, even the summer months?
I said before, it´s not easy to setup a production line for a world width product. You can lost as much monny if you over produce than if you under produce. Remember the 900mi Microsoft lost with the first Surface?
Production is based on contracting and managing a vast third party suply chain and workers. They are long term contracts, usualy 3 or 4 quarters. You can´t contract new ones every time you think your forcast is low, nor can fire/cancel if it´s too high.

Fixed because they never did that. BTW using the announces and the data from UK, France, Australia, Spain... Xbone didn't reach 2 million... Well, he (Jack Tretton) did confirm the estimate from analysts in an interview with Bloomberg: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-11/sony-sees-sales-of-3-million-playstation-4-consoles-by-year-end.html
I go by figures from MS and Sony, you seem so adamant that X1 should be a failure that you even seem to think they would lie in their announcements. Give it up because those are atleast formally announced numbers.
Is your attitude actually this: if MS announce something, they lie but if we don´t hear anything from Sony, they must exceed what even they have confirmed before in an interview with Bloomberg?

No. It just said Sony is confident to match the Analyst expectations.
And about my attitude.
Trackers didn't backup the 2 million said by MS unless they just showed shipped numbers (the most reliable theory right now)... from the know numbers in EU and US MS needs to sell way over 300k in LA to reach 2 million... if you believe that
In a comparision with PS4 the same tracks backup the 2.1 million numbers... even so Sony have others 25 countries the of course have the potential to backup even more than 2.1 million... so Sony was crazy limited in supply at the launch.
While the tracks continue to show the MS numbers are bullshit how I can believe in what they say?

well, you sure do have faith in Sony, I give you that :).

Where do you get that figure from? I believe the PS4 will sell around 3.5 to 3.7 by the end of this year. Taking my lower estimation, that leaves 1.5 million (if Sony aren't underestimating sales by the fiscal year) or 2.5 million if I'm right and they HAVE underestimated the figure (and it sells 6 million). January won't be great but it won't be terrible either. february will get a decent boost because of the Japanese launch, and the release of Driveclub which will be bundled. And in February Infamous: Second Son releases which is the game lots of people are holding off buying a PS4 for.

yes these #'s are way off for both systems. Ofcourse they never are right anyways.

Do you want that I quote the Jack's words?
| pezus said: He didn't "confirm" anything. Read what he said, instead of the media's interpretation of it. Bold: When you have very recent history of "lying" (twice), is it so weird to suspect them of lying again when evidence points towards it? |
Well, it was a Bloomberg interview so I go by that. also, it would match Sonys own prediction os seelling 5 million by the end of the fiscial year.
Do you have a link for MS lying? And considering both MS and Sony through the years have been quite shitty towards customers (for example MS in crappy firstparty support for X360 the last couple of years, sony in forcing customers to pay for multiplayer on PS4 when they were championing the free PSN before) would that mean we cannot trust anything they say? I choose to trust the numbers until proven otherwise, assuming lies with nothing to back it up sounds more like conspiracy theories.
