There is zero way to tell, unless you can see the future. Everyone is clamoring about PS4/X1 sales numbers but it was only 1 year ago that the Wii U's launch was the 2nd best ever and that went down the drain quick. Both are in high demand but when you are talking about an eventual goal of 80+ Million units, the first 2 - 3 million units means close to nothing. For all we know PS4 will continue to move tons of consoles, or people lose interest quick due to a lack of games. Same goes for X1. Or maybe they keep the momentum up and they stay hot. You can't even use ebay prices as an indicator because its Christmas time, and the hottest gift is always really expensive (not just video games). If the 7th gen and 3DS v. Vita era's have taught me anything it is that the consoles with games will sell. Wii had a great early lineup and sold incredibly well. 360 picked up some once Gears came out, but Halo 3 is what really got it moving. PS3 sold terribly but once God of War and Uncharted came out, it did much better and is going to end up with 90+ million lifetime units. The Wii U / PS3 parallel is really clear to me right now. Nintendo is going to drop some bombshell (sick looking Zelda and/or Metroid, Miyamoto FPS, Something else) at some point and then the Wii U will find its footing. The Gamecube comparisons are so off its not even funny. Gamecube had Mario,Pikmin,Starfox,Metroid,Zelda,Luigis Mansion, and Smash Bros year one and no one cared. Wii U has Pikmin and Mario. If the others come out and its still a flop I would be shocked.
