Forums - Sales - Can the Xbone dethrone the PS4 in the USA?

it can be real close. I remember Gamestop reported that over 2 million customers are still waiting to pre order ps4

This. There are still alot of PS4 in backorder. I also believe many people started (pre)ordering after they saw ps4's were in short supply.

I don't know and I didn't read any other posts in this thread aside from the OP. All I know is my gut says maybe.

The thing that may help it is that the Xbox 360 was pretty dominant in North America. Perhaps if Microsoft gives people a lot of incentive to carry their 360 info over to the Xbox One, it could happen. Right now, I'm not particularly motivated to stay loyal aside from my love for Kinect.

Yeah...they should do something like give a $50 discount off an Xbone to people with over 10k gamerscore or sumshit @Frequency, we're not so different, you and I

I thought this was a joke thread at first. Seriously, it's been less than a month since their release. PS4 is sold out and Xbone is selling well (shockingly around when they were first released and Christmas). Raise this thread again in 2 years when it might be significant.

Hmm, pie.

That sounds really hard to believe...I mean 2 million waiting to pre-order from 1 retailer just sounds ridiculous. Or is this some market research they did to gauge the demand for the PS4? If so, then it basically just means that there's 2 million die-hards waiting on the PS4...which isn't really THAT impressive, there's probs 2m Xbox fans who've yet to buy an Xbone too

Darkness is ally to you both because you're both innitiated by the League of Shadows.

Wat. In 2 years this discussion will be insignificant, as one of them will have probably established a healthy lead by then.

Well there's no point in comparing them so early cause everyone knew they would both sell out at launch. The real test will come after January and that is where I expect to PS4 to widen the gap.

There is zero way to tell, unless you can see the future. Everyone is clamoring about PS4/X1 sales numbers but it was only 1 year ago that the Wii U's launch was the 2nd best ever and that went down the drain quick. Both are in high demand but when you are talking about an eventual goal of 80+ Million units, the first 2 - 3 million units means close to nothing. For all we know PS4 will continue to move tons of consoles, or people lose interest quick due to a lack of games. Same goes for X1. Or maybe they keep the momentum up and they stay hot. You can't even use ebay prices as an indicator because its Christmas time, and the hottest gift is always really expensive (not just video games). If the 7th gen and 3DS v. Vita era's have taught me anything it is that the consoles with games will sell. Wii had a great early lineup and sold incredibly well. 360 picked up some once Gears came out, but Halo 3 is what really got it moving. PS3 sold terribly but once God of War and Uncharted came out, it did much better and is going to end up with 90+ million lifetime units. The Wii U / PS3 parallel is really clear to me right now. Nintendo is going to drop some bombshell (sick looking Zelda and/or Metroid, Miyamoto FPS, Something else) at some point and then the Wii U will find its footing. The Gamecube comparisons are so off its not even funny. Gamecube had Mario,Pikmin,Starfox,Metroid,Zelda,Luigis Mansion, and Smash Bros year one and no one cared. Wii U has Pikmin and Mario. If the others come out and its still a flop I would be shocked.

That's because we're the same person logged in on different computers and the computer I post as you on is running through a proxy.
