Of course not.

For people who aren't racist they will judge the Obama presidency without judging the entire African American demographic. The next African American candidate who comes forward is no more or less likely to get their vote than before 2008.

For people who are racist, they are already living >50 years in the past, so nothing has changed for them. And none of these people voted for Obama in either election. And they won't vote for the next African American candidate.

People who say they aren't racist but say they are less likely to vote for another African American candidate because of Obama, actually are and have always been racist.

That's why a lot of blacks say they love the KKK, because at least they are outwardly racist. Nothing irritates african americans more than the racists who hide behind the fact that they hate blacks.Deep down they can't stand blacks but they are too scared to admit it so they use crutch phrases like i'm not racist, in fact my ____________ is black or pull out stats out their rear end to justify their bigotry or stereotypical views on minorities.

Here are some favorites from your friendly neighberhood hidden racist

"I'm not racist, in fact my best friend is black" "I'm not racist, I voted for the black guy" "I'm not racist, I don't see the color of your skin" "I'm not racist, my adopted sibling is black"

I'll be here all week ladies and gentleman lol

That's overstating things a bit. I think it's more along the lines of "At least with the KKK you know who your enemy is and what they're about." I don't think there's any love or grudging respect there. It is more an expression of disgust at the insidiousness of the unacknowledged racism of the "some of my friends black people" kind.

No, he set America back but I won't say by X amount of years. I just hope people begin to realize who really runs this country and it ain't the President.

You realise you just contradicted yourself? If el Presidente doesn't run the country how can he/she set it back in any meaningful way?

Anyway, I openly laughed at people who thought they were ushering in a new era of awesomeness with the election of Obama. The fact is the US political system is so broken and corrupt that nothing short of a complete transformation can effect any real change. Obama's mistake was thinking that his change mantra could bare fruit by working within the system. I celebrated the fact that America had reached some level of maturity that it could actually elect someone other than a white man to be president. But for the rest of what people hoped I knew they were all false hopes from the moment Obama's victory was announced.

One thing that politicians never fail at, is they never fail to disappoint.

I haven't seen any White only signs at public restrooms, and I don't have to give up my seat for a White person, so no.

Instead you are just mandated to give up your health via an expensive and mandatory health care plan.

Equating this to what black Americans had to go through in the 50s and 60s is laughable.

Americans and their freaking fear of (gasp!) mandatory health care, lol. As if Canada, Japan, and Europe don't manage just fine.

It's laughable to you for now due to lack of understanding. The ACA has been ruled a tax. It is a mandatory tax for all citizens. What happens when you don't pay your taxes? Ask Wesley Snipes what happened to him for three years. Think I'm making it up, Dr. King himself was arrested in on claims of tax evasion in 1960.

Is it fair game to make a "How Far Did Kim Jong Ill Set Asians Back?" thread too?

Or how about a thread about how "Insert Recent Serial Killer/School Shooter" Has set back white males?

Or how Miley Cyrus has set back people with green eyes?

Just curious, lol. I'm still mad at Obama for not curing cancer yet and getting some of his scientists to whip up a warp drive.

Who cares that the economy is slowly but surely recovering from the worst recession since like 1920s or that we're on the brink of negotiating a peaceful resolution with the biggest enemey in Iran and didn't take the bait of plunging a wary military into another unneccessary quagmire conflict in Syria.

Sure I don't like drone attacks, but maybe Pakistan may want to stop haboring like the remaining 90% of Al Queda. They didn't know bin Laden was living in a compound like a stone's throw away from from their central intelligence agency? Really? Would they prefer US troops on the ground in their country? Didn't think so.

This a pretty ignorant topic here. I am pretty sure slavery set my people and this country back. Racist that got a peaceful man shot for wanting equality set it back. The president is just a man we elect. And we did not elect him because he was black, we voted for him because he was the best man for the job. But anyone thinking he could solve all the problems of the world is crazy. He does the best he can. And lay off bush. Sure he made so mistakes here and there but he was the former president. That title has to garner some respect.

So my people are not set back, all people are because of the effects that this financial climate is taking on the world. Politicians, no matter how hard we hate, are not the major ones that caused this problem. And sadly that also means that they can not snap their fingers and change the world. It is going to take people doing their jobs the right way and paying what they owe to really help get us out this mess. Living outside your means only leads to bad things.

No, that's a ridiculous statement. I'm by no means an Obama fan but he's not the reason why African Americans struggle in the US. Honestly I find this post racist for even blaming the an African American for this after decades of slavery and discrimination against this race. If anything at least an African American president has become a reality more than a dream for the nation. He didn't do an amazing job but let's face it he didn't have an easy task and has to work within many restrictions set upon him by a democracy that's becoming less and less dynamic.

Hasn't Obama brought the American deficit down a gigantic amount from what Bush left it off at? Has he not improved the state of civil rights and liberties among people such as equal treatment for women's healthcare, LGBT equality, etc... How about striking back against corrupt medical insurance companies in the US? Was all of that wrong? I don't think so.

Has Bush's failures set white people back 20-50 years?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Where do you get your news? President Obama borrowed more in his first term than Bush did in two terms and he continues to borrow.

He has not improved the state of civil rights. He has violated both voting rights with his attorney general suing and harassing states that attempt to prevent vote fraud. He is being sued repeatedly for violating the religious and civil rights of Americans. It is clear the IRS under his direction has harassed, intimidated and limited the political speech of untold numbers of Americans.

With regard to LGBT rights, he opposed marriage during his first term. He recently changed his mind but only with regard to making it a state rights issue rather than a federal guarantee. He hasn't struck back against insurance companies. Instead he cozied up to them and created a cronistic system where they have guaratneed customers who are mandated to buy their products under threat of imprisonment.

I find it interesting in that when Democrats criticize Republicans, they continually accuse them of turning back the clock on certain groups. Why is this off-limit or "racist" for discussion of President Obama?

You forgot that he hasn't cured cancer yet. Because Romney surely would have.

The premise of the thread is racist in the same way a "How far has Kim Jong Ill Set Back All Asians? They were doing so well with Bruce Lee" would be.

I'm white by the way and even I can see that this thread is racist/ignorant as f*ck. Why should an entire racial group be judged by one politican when it's not an expectation put upon any other racial group?

Are all white males judged when another white serial killer shows up or the next school shooting happens to be a white guy? No of course not. Do white people have to "live down" George W. Bush? Or Nixon?
